Jopsa's Round the World Tour 2004

Well i think the thread title says it all  :)

hi im jopsa, im new here, and I'm going to start a Round the World tour in FS2004.

Just wanted to ask if any of you had any tips or things i should know (like any good planes that can handle the trip, etc)

For the moment I've chosen a sight-seeing tour mostly, that goes like this:

Madrid>
Boston>
Honolulu>
Mekoryuk (next to the Bering Strait)>
Moscow>
Tokyo>
Sydney>
Kathmandu (for Mt.Everest)>
Egypt>
Madrid.

And I was thinking of using a big Boeing, like the 737-400 (i think that's the one anyway  :P)

So, have any of you done a Tour like this before? I just want to know if you have any tips before I start.

Well good luck with it Jopsa. You'll need to think about things like range and weather, but I promise you when you've finished that trip you'll feel 10 feet tall
Please post shots of your trip in the screenshots forum, we've got several members doing tours at the moment, and sometimes it helps others get inspired, or shows us a great new place to go and play in

Mmm,are u sure you want to use big airliner for your tour?
On such kind of aircrft you'll need to fly on high alltitude
ways from where all looks the same...
Wouldnt it be better to use smaller aircraft like Beechcraft or Aerocommander to fly lower for more
mmm...picturesque sightseeing?

Welcome to SimV Jopsa!

Sterk is right about the smaller aircraft. Use the big boys to cross the oceans, but use the small stuff to actually get that sight-seeing in. Round the world tours are great fun and you see a lot of places you would never fly to. My suggestion would be to strech out some of the legs of your trip to include more stops and shorter hops. But whatever you decide, have fun with it!

About my choice of plane, well, yeah, I suppose you are right, but then my jumps are pretty big and smaller aircraft couldn't cope I suppose.

What if I used a Cessna Citation II? I love the plane (plus I downloaded it from this site ) and it seems to be pretty strong too.

About the pics, sure, I'll post them, but I was mainly thinking of visiting the Strait of Bering, The Nile and Mt. Everest, so I don't know if they will be very original

And by the way, is there some way to make this whole flight in the flight planner before actually flying? I mean, just to have the whole tour on my GPS during the whole flight, having to stop only for refuelling?

welcome to simv.

There are about as many ways to fly 'round the world as there are members here, I think.  I'm doing it in a Stratojet Excalibur.  It's a fictional supersonic business jet.  I fly most of my legs at 55,000 feet and Mach 2+ so I don't see a lot of the ground.  I did do some low level (25000 feet) VFR flights over Indonesia that were fun.

And if you're going to post some screen shots be prepared.  I've missed several shots just because they came and went before I thought to capture them.

I was doing a RTW tour but got a bit bored halfway over Greenland, having started from Ireland and gone via Iceland. Greenland scenery isn't exactly fantastically interesting, but I'd really like to pick it up again now!

i'd suggest u to fly Boeing 747-400 for the Pacific crossing. and stop by SFO when u are around the area
