Contact points?

For some time now I have been enjoying flying the excellent Avro Lancaster B111 ( Special) Dambuster by David Garwood, but I have noticed something strange. It appears to land about 2 scale feet above the runway and only settles onto the ground when almost at a standstill. The same happens, only in reverse when taking off. It leaves the ground by about 2 feet at very low speed and stays there until it obtains a rotate speed of around 120-140 knots. I
What doesn't kill you makes you stronger. But why take the risk?

Hi Zaphod,

Took a look at the ac in 2002. Havent d/l'd the fs2004 updates.

At that time [1909] the chief engineer was almost always the chief test pilot as well. That had the fortunate result of eliminating poor engineering early in aviation.

Hi Dave.

I'm using the default DC3 panel from COF. I know it lacks all the engine gauges but somehow it looks o.k. and has all the right bells and whistles (simicons etc).
I'd appreciate any help with the contact point probs as this is a really lovely looking aircraft otherwise.

Here are the mods I have made to the contact_points that seem to keep the wheels on the deck.

...........
static_cg_height= 11.000
static_pitch= 6.890

Have left the tires a little compressed, but that can be fixed by altering the 'vertical position, if you wish.

Dont know if the numbers reflect the real-world a/c, but they work ;)

Many, many thanks. The plane now looks as good on the deck as it does in the air!
If you are interested in WW2 props have a look at the Avro Anson, also by David Garwood. You should be able to find it at http://mysite.freeserve.com/3d_hole
It looks and flies really well and the interior views are brilliant.
