Hello,
Does anybody know what is the role of the Alt Intv switch of the 737PMDG ?

Another question, Can we push the Altitude Selector in the real 737NG (like Airbus) ?

Thanks.

My question is what does the spd intv swithch do ???
Are either of these switches linked to a gauge or they for looks only. The gauge used if any might shed some light as to what it does. 8)

first of all, not every 737NG has these features installed.

But as the name indicates the speed and altitude intv. buttons intervene with FMC programming. (speed and altitude constraints)

Use the ALT INTV. during climb or descent to delete altitude restrictions in the FMC between your current altitude and the selected MCP altitude.

The SPD INTV works (as the alt. intv) only in VNAV mode.
Pushing that button will display target speed in the speed window, you can now change FMC target speed by rotating the speed knob.

And finally; No you can't push the altitude selector as in the Airbus. Instead of pushing the alt knob, Boeing has a VNAV button instead ;)

Thanks Nexus for sheding light on the matter. I have a 737NG and it does not have those switches. But from what you are saying I am not missing anything real important. 8)

No gary, those switches are not a vital part at all, just an easy way to control the VNAV via the glareshield panel. Reduces pilots 'heads down' monitoring in busy airspace. But overall the 737 works just fine without speed and altitude intervention buttons.
