One warning, you may find parts of the world not mapped, so don't be freaked out when you are flying over absolutely nothing, also be careful, it is easy to crash in those areas.

I did the around the world trip flight a while ago, when i first got FS9.  I came across a few ares that were un-mapped.  I have just looked around some parts of the world now and could not find them.  It may have been due to the old graphics card i was using at the time.
I definetly saw them though, just can't remember where  ???

Could you have been near Bermuda???

In answer to the question about times, it should take about 48 hours in a 747 to fly around the world.  Longer if you take a more scenic route.

Many people have done this in a variety of aircraft, most notably Tipster in a Baron.  Enjoy yourself and keep us updated.

I just passed the half way point on my first trip.  I've done 16 legs so far at an average of 1.6 hrs each gate-to-gate.  Total 25.1 hrs so far.

I'm flying the Stratojet Excalibur so in a 747 this trip would probably take 2 to 3 times as long.

I keep most of my trips under 2 hrs just because I don't have a lot of time.  If you fly longer legs you'll spend more time at cruise but you'll see fewer cities.

What's wrong with 10+ hour flights ???

;D

You could always time compress it. I always do, well only for jet flights. I don't use time compression with props.  ;D

I'm not travelling around the world, but did a trip from Brussels to the Americas ( North and Central) doing 1 to 2 hour flights; I always took real airlines. Currently i'm heading for home on a 9 hour flight from Los Angeles to London. Id still love to see the far East, so i might be heading there next.

Just enjoy your flights. Lots of different planes keep it interesting for me.

Good luck on your trip!

Flies2little,

There's not a thing in the world wrong with a 10+ hour flight.  But when I fly I like to sit there in front of the screen the whole time and other stuff around the house eventually needs attention.  So for me a 10+ hour flight or even a 3 hour flight is generally not feasible.

Now one time, though, I did happen to have most of a day to myself so I fired up the default 747 and flew for about 4 hours.  That was a lot of fun.

Time compression? That's cheating ;D

So far, I've done 5 RTW flights. I did 2 in FS5, 2 in FS98, and once in FS2002 ;)

What does RTW stand for? Sounds like a big accomplishment though! Anyway I only use time compression on the really long flights but I only use it to 4x. I don't use it on prop aircraft though  ;)
