Born Again

Well I never thought I would be here; in the 2004 forum. I feel like a new person! Having spent the last 3 and a bit years building up 2002 to where I want it, yoke and pedals included, I have sucumbed to  '9'. And we start again.
Any one out there have recommendations for third party scenery enhancement? I do most of my flying in the States and Canada under VFR conditions and usually have a road map and my trusty 'Free Flight Atlas' of the USA, Canada and Mexico close at hand. Freeware would be a bonus but I'm prepared to pay up for good quality.
Thanks guys.

There is plenty of FS2002 scenery that has been updated to FS9.  Both pay and freeware. ;D

I would recomend the Logan Intl scenery, and Memphis Intl scenery.  You can find them here and at Avsim.  Anything by Lago of course (payware). ;D

It basically comes down to what we all have done, search and download, install, search, download, install, search, download, and install.  Then if you have time, try to do some flying in FS9. ;D

Tons of great aircraft out there also. ;D

One of the best freeware products I've come across is the FSGenesis meshes just released for the western half of the US.  Also check out the FlyTampa airports...they're nice and easy on the FPS.

Thanks guys for taking the time to respond. I'm a pretty good researcher when it comes to seeking out mesh and scenery, having served my apprenticeship since FS98,  but I guess I was trying to cut a few corners by consulting those who have been running '9' for longer than I have. But I appreciate your expertise as always.

try this link: www.afeonline.com. I've got one for USA/Canada etc and Europe. Not quite the same as bringing up some FSNav software in flight but I find just a tad more realistic when under VFR conditions. That's why I was particularly interested in third party scenery/landclass  which showed up plenty of roads, lakes and other topographical  landmarks, like mountain/hill heights etc. It makes flight planning for VFR just that little more interesting and challenging. It also saves time trying to manipulate large TPC or ONC charts while in the air.
good luck and mind those pylons.  8)
