Vanishing planes

Postby ozzy72 » Thu Apr 15, 2004 2:49 am

I noticed something rather odd yesterday evening, my Harvards had disappeared from my list in FS. I checked the FS9/Aircraft folder and they were there. I'm going to re-install them today, but I wondered has anyone else experienced a similar problem?

I have never had this problem. You might have to look into each of the planes folders to see if any of the needed files are missing or have been renamed. In order for a plane to appear in the selection menu there are certain files that must be there off the top of my head I can not remember what they are. Compare them to one that you can select you should be able to spot if any thing is different.

Mark. I don't know if this still applies in FS9. If the panel or sound of the missing aircraft are aliased make sure you didn't remove the one they're aliased to. This was one of the most common reasons for aircraft mysteriously disappearing from the menu in the previous M$ sims.

I have a Seafire that won't show up in the Sim for anything but does show up in mission builder and managed to spawn as an enemy in quick combat.

Dunno why ???

I have found FS9 to be the most unstable sim yet.  It's good but very odd at times.

This is probably configured as an unflyable AI Only drone. To make it flyable open the AIR file in AirEd & change the Aircraft Type from 2 to 0.

If it was originally configured in this way it's most likely a basic model for use in missions & not intended to be flyable.

I've had this problem somewhat, but it's AI traffic this time...sometimes when I see AI waiting to cross the runway or get ready for takeoff they just dissapear right in front of me. I have no idea where they go?! ???

Two Words:

Get FS2002.

Because FS2004 tend to have some bizarre problems occuring frequently.

I can only say that I've had no problems with FS9 so far. It has less bugs than FS2000 or FS2002 for that matter. In my experience most of these mysterious happenings are down to you rather than anything to do with M$. :P ;)
