This is easy what you need to do is to start FS go to a place you fly from a lot make sure you or at a gate or at the general avaiation parking shut down every thing even open the door if you want then save the flight and make it your default flight. Then when you start up FS again you can go to where ever you want and use any plane you want and nothing will be on. I even turn off the battery and avionics I use shift A for avionics and shift B for battery. Then you can either turn each engine on yourself in any order you want or use the autostart. 8)

Nice answer gary, but you didnt actually answer the question lol  'how' to start the engines. ;)

Basically Cpt farham follow garymbuskas instructions, you need to set up a saved flight with everything shut down because by default it always starts all engines running. If your not sure how to stop the engines it is ctrl  shift  F1  then turn off avionics and battery.

Save the flight like gary says at any regular airport. Then when you start there merely load that flight.

Turn on battery and avionics and press ctrl E to start engines and your away.  If you land at an airport and wish to fly back the next day (say) shut everything down and save it again.

I fly for a VA and have a saved flight for the aircraft, so wherever I am I save the flight, then next time I fly I start from where I left off, fuel and everything.

Adding onto Reap's info........

Some aircraft have more features modeled than the default ones.  Some allow you to run a far more realistic start up and shut down procedure including stuff like setting power busses, turning on fuel pumps and crossfeeds, setting hydraulics, starting APU's, and so on.  Some payware planes are not too far off the complexity of the real thing and require a book to learn to start.

For those types of aricraft.... look for the startup and shutdown checklists that likely come with the aircraft.

best,

Same here! I've been trying to figure out how to start in a dark cockpit before and some people suggested to download a special file that would let you do this, but I really didn't want to download anything to FS. This helps a lot! Thanks! ;D
