ASI Problem

Occasionally when I fly long haul (and even some short haul) in the defult Boeing 747 + 737, the ASI will read zero when I am going at something like Mach .80. It will then switch on again at about 10 miles to the airport, which can be very frustrating as I am going too fast to land.
Does anyone know how to fix this problem. Thanks

Turn on your pitot heat! On the overhead panel in the VC, there are two switches, and the top one is for the pitot heat. Alternatively, press ctrl+H. The pitot heat exists so that ice doesn't build up in the pitot tube which measures the airspeed.

I never thought of that, now it seems really obvious. Thanks
