It is better and it is worth it. There are even more improvements than you mentioned but no sense even thinking about it unless you have enough computer to run it properly.

List your computer specs ie: processor speed, amount of system memory, video card specs.

The thing is, FS2004 is a resource and memory hog and is really quite flakey as to performance. You never really know how it will run on a given system until you try it.  But knowing your system specs will help people here to give you a very educated guess as to how things will go.

COF excellent, strong recommendation, a significant improvement over  2002.  No problem running on a mid range system,

You don't have to ask.  It is well worth it.  Back when I was running FS2002, I thought I wouldn't need to upgrade, but I am so glad I did! ;D  FS9 plus all of the addons and tweeks, I am in FS heaven.  Head over to the screenshot forum, you can tell a huge difference between FS2002 and FS9.  I would think that to be convincing in itself. ;D

Ultimately it will be your decision, these are some opinions of a very satisfied customer. ;D
