Short in the arse pilots...!

As someone who is a little short in the "arse" "height" department, (5 feet, 7 inches, and decreasing yearly), is there an entry in the aircraft .cfg file that can be modified to increase the thickness of my seat cushion when flying tail-draggers... ;)...?

When using the old familiar Shift + Return key in forward view to increase the seat height, (viewpoint), the view reverts back to default settings after using the "look-around", (key-pad), keys... :'(...!
...buggar...!

I know it's a bit of a "fiddle", but in a "real" tail-dragger it's easier to quickly glance out of the side windows to keep an eye on the runway edges than it is in the Simulator... ::)...!

Either that, or can someone please treat me to a fatter seat cushion....
Thank you... 8)...!

LOL...LOL...LOL...!

Cheers all... ;D...!

Paul.....wearing Elton John boots... ;)...!

LOL...!

Hi Foz. You can adjust the pilot's viewpoint by tweaking the [Views] entries in Aircraft.cfg. This example is from the FS9 default Piper Cub.

[Views]
eyepoint = -2.884, 0.000, 1.230

The value in bold type is the vertical height in feet from an imaginary datum point or virtual C of G.

PS. This defines the viewpoint in the DVC, the actual visual model of the aircraft. It will not affect the 2D panel.

Hi Doug...!
...Buggar... ::)...!
I was hoping you would send me a nice thick eider-down, feather cushion, embossed with the name Grumpy1... ;)...!
Oh well...
..I'll just have to alter the .cfg file as second best... ::)...!

LOL...LOL...LOL...!

Cheers Doug... ;D...!

Thanks for the tip...will do...!

Paul....sorry about the embarrassing Elton John Boots...it's a 1970's thing to increase my height... :-[...!

LOL...!

The mind boggles. :o Just as well I'm not easily embarrassed. :P ;D

To save messing around with those viewpoint entries I believe you can move around the DVC with the Shift + Backpace/Enter & Ctrl + Backpace/Enter keys.*

*PS. Oops I see you already mentioned that. :-[

I don't bother with all this stuff anyway. If I want to look outside I hit the W key & done with. I like to see where I'm going & what's going on around me - not sit there with my head permanently stuck in the cockpit. ::)

PPS. I find the most realistic method of flying in FS is to use an aircraft with a decent DVC. The FS9 default Piper Cub is one of my favourites.

If you've got the space on screen, you can also open a second view without the cockpit in the way.

I remember flying Meteors with a cushion.  Great idea until you were on one engine, when the cushion compressed so much that the effect disappeared altogether.  Did nothing for minimum speeds on one engine for short legged people like me !
