can't get realworld weather to work

My computer locks up each time I try to use realworld weather. Microsoft help said to try a clean boot (didn't work), and to check port 80 (which I don't know how to check).

Does any one have any ideas how to help with this problem?

I had the same problem awhile back and it came down to M$ blaming my ISP and my ISP blaming M$.

M$ told me to check port 80 also, I did this by going through my ISP, I know that your port 80 isn't blocked it seems to be the only answer that M$ gives to people, of course it is never a M$ problem!
The way I fixed this and you might find this extreme but I removed all M$ hotfixes, SP1, and disabled all automatic downloads.
Reason is because everytime M$ auto downloaded something my computer would go haywire , programs would crash or just not run at all!
After removing all the crap M$ says "you need" and reinstalling FS9, the sim works great, Real world weather works everytime, and my computer is more stable now than ever before!! As a matter of fact it hasn't crashed once since removing all the M$ downloaded crap!!!!

I can't say this will work for you so do so at your own risk, but I not only did this on my computer but too a few friends and we all now enjoy a faster more reliable computer!

One less extreme thing you might check into first is ,to be sure if you have a firewall it is set to allow FS9 to connect to the Internet!
Best of luck, I hope you get this figured out soon!!

yea of course it's never microsofts problem, nor is it anyone elses problem, everyone in this business loves to pass the buck to someone else.  darn corporations disban them all !

in regards to the real wx, maybe give it a minute or two, i have a relitivley fast pc and high speed internet and i still have to wait a minute or so when i turn that option on.

Are you running a Firewall?  There was a version of ZoneAlarm that choked on RealWeather.  I would imagine some other firewalls also have had problems with RealWeather.  The latest Pay & Free versions of ZoneAlarm work with Realweather.
