What would be a good aircraft to practice spins in (in FS2K4) and how do I go about entering that maneuver?

To be honest I've never been in a spin in FS, I have heard that its possible though.
You can definatley do them in x-plane.

I hear the latest Decathlon & a few other 3rd party aircraft will do a realistic spin. I haven't tried them myself & have never managed to do anything resembling a spin in any version of FS.

The one way that I know how to spin in the real world, is to stall only one wing.
I'm not sure FS can do that.

Very basically you initiate a spin by throttling back & applying full rudder at the point of stall with the stick held back as far as it will go. The aircraft will spin in the direction of the rudder all the time the controls are in this position. To recover from a spin centralise the controls, applying power to regain airspeed before levelling out as with a conventional stall. Some aircraft will spin much easier & more violently than others. Recovery procedure will vary depending on the aircraft.

I had a modified air file for the default Cessna 182 that produced a very realistic spin. I think it found it from a post here at SimV but I forget who's it was. Hopefully they'll show up with the link. I lost the file and haven't been able to find it again.

I tried my decathalon and the extra.  As far as I could tell they appeared to be tumbling rather than spinning.  I had no trouble with recovery in either aircraft.  Thanks guys!  That was something I just wanted to try out.

Try the RealAIr Simulations Cessna 172.......... set the realism sliders fully "real".  Their planes are KNOWN to have somewhat realistic spin capabilities.
That plane used to be payware but it is freeware now.
best,

I got into a spin with the F-16, whilst i was pushing it to its limits i managed to stall one of the wings and it sent me spiralling towards the ground.  I managed to get out of it, thankfully.  I have also done it with the cessna, i stalled it completely when i first played FS9, then as i was picking speed up again i pulled out of the dive and again one of the wings stalled.

There is a nice little Swedish trainer that was released as a gmax model for 2k2 a few months back (I think its  a Valmet, but I'm not definate), but it has a special file within the package to allow realistic spins

Oh and its a lovely model to boot

I have booth looped and spun the default B747.
But word to the wise is to turn off crash detection and get plenty of altitude before trying it as you will run out of air before you can pull out. But it can be done

now with that decathlon...how do you get it to spin nicely? I can get it started but it ususually recovers after the first 2-3 rotations
