I have the Microsoft Force Feedback 2 Joystick running with FS 2002 and FS 2004. All worked well in FS 2002 but I recently installed FS 2004. The force feedback works well when I am not running any FS program but as soon as the loading of FS2004 starts, the force feedback disappears and the joystick flops around with absolutely no resistance on any axis.
I have checked the settings and configurations - all seems well. Any other ideas?

You might want to make sure that FF is enabled in ACOF. I had a FF joystick and was very disappointed with it. It only seemed to resist everything I did. Wasn't realistic at all. Try to fly right and the stick tried to fly left. Try to go up and the stick tried to fly down. I hoped it would give me a feel for the airplane but it was almost the opposite. Finally just got a decent regular stick.

do you have the software installed that came with the joystick? I'm pretty sure thats a common problem with the force feedback 2, when you don't install the sidewinder CD that came with it and try to play FS9

What planes are you flying? Some add-ons don't have Force-feedback. Or they are overdone, and you can't hold the stick on taxiing cause of the violent shaking.
A little program, found in the archives can adjust the FF for each plane.
Search for it, i forgot the link, but i'll try to find it.

unplug-replug the stick... once in a while FS tends to mess up the USB ports
