Hi Devo. Which application are you using to open fs9.cfg? It should be legible in Notepad. If it's scrambled as you say - move the file to another location to back it up. Then run FS9. A new fs9.cfg should be created in the original location. All being well this one should be OK. If anything goes wrong & FS9 won't run you can replace the original file.

Hmmm. I've seen a few corrupted CFG files but not come across this one before. Try opening it in Wordpad or another text editor.

Are you trying to open the sound.dll?

What exactly are you trying to do with the sound.dll?

Pete has a point. Make sure you're opening the correct file. It's named fs9.cfg & in a different location depending on your OS.

The fs9.cfg file is located in:

Windows 2000 and Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Microsoft\FS9.

Windows 9x and Windows ME: \WINDOWS\Application Data\Microsoft\FS9

I assume this is a 3rd party panel. Tell me exactly where to download it & I'll check it out.

The most common cause of this problem is FSSound.dll. In this case you would install FSSound.dll to the FS9\Modules folder. You would see this error message.

To fix it open fs9.cfg in Notepad & add this entry using the exact name of the conflicting DLL.

[OLDMODULES]
fssound.dll=1

I suspect you're trying to edit the DLL file & not fs9.cfg.
