...Havn't looked back, went from a fx5200 around nov/dec last year,  up from 17-20 fps to 35-40 fps same flight (set up as a bench mark before the switch) so exact same settings .... a fantastic differance ..... do it!

I have the 9600 XT, a good move up compared to the GeForce 4 MX 440 I had. I calculate in CDN $, but US$200 is pretty steep,..believe you should be able to get a better price. NCIX sells it for about CDN$ 240, which is probably closer to US$160 or so....all the best,
Terry

Ok i just got the card in.and turned everything up even clouds is maxed out and no drop in FPS.if i hadnt seen it with my own eyes it would be hard for me to beleave it i thought i was going to have to upgrade to a 3.0 GHz to get happy.but one problem every thing looks great except the aircraft has jagged edges i have it on 8 x but i didnt see no antilassing in hardware setting.can any one tell me how this one small problem might get fixed.and as allways i installed the newest driver for it.i say bravo on the recomendation it really looks good.TerryW thats the cheapest i could find this card where i am everyone eles want $250.00 but for the results i am getting i wont complain one bit with what i paid for it.if i had upgraded to the 3.0Ghz that would have costed me $400 u.s dollars.so since i dont have to do that now i guess i saved $200.thanks for the replies.

In control panel set-up the AA to 4x and keep it off in the game.  4x is only supported by most games not 8x.

This thread is just about over but I thought I would add I am also running a 9600XT and I am VERY happy with it. I am running the Omega 3.9 drivers.  I know there are newer Omegas but my 9600XT is working so well I don't want to mess with it.  :)
Had a buddy (also a FS'er) drop by and I showed him a couple of aircraft with bare metal textures.....he just about fell on the floor he was so impressed with the dynamic shine.  :D

I love doing that to my friends aswell.  I sometimes take some shots into sixth form and show them to people.  They can't believe how realistic they are.
