Starting with engines off.

Hello friends. :)
Just got FS9; and I can tell you I am Impressed!  ;D What an excellent addition to the FS series; IMO.
One question - I like taking a flight right from beginning to end - that is; from the last coffee in the flight lounge until you close out the flight plan. The flights in FS2004 all start with the engines running, warm and prepared for flight. Is there any way to set it up (other than creating your own flight and setting it to 'default') that flights start with the aircraft cold?
Thanx. :)

Yes, there is a file on AVSIM with the name bc_dark.zip that give you a cold dark cockpit with everything switched off.

But because I don't like installing too many stuff in my FS9 I would go for the "set flight as default2 option. :)

Just to clarify the 'default flight'....

Once you save the default flight with the dark cockpit, you do not have to start with that flight.

I tried to find the file in Avsim and Flightsim under the name "bc_dark.zip"....no luck... :'(...!
...but a search in Simviation found it... ;D...!

http://www.simviation.com/fs2002misc8.htm

It contains a gauge which must pe placed in the main Gauges Folder, and each aircraft must contain the entry in the panel file in the Panel Folder
...>>
gaugeXX=Dark_Cockpit!Dark_Cockpit,  0,0,10,10

XX must be replaced by the next number in the gauges list...

Note: Read the "Readme" file. The dark effect must be entered in each selected aircraft... ;)...!

Cheers all... ;D...!

Paul.

I always start my flight where I left off on my previous flight, with everything shut down ;)

;D Staiduk, I have been using a program called FS Aircraft Shutdown, that works quite well to give you a cold start situation.

The authors site is:

It is a free download, so you might want to give it a try.
