display problems

Postby Daz » Thu Jan 29, 2004 7:14 am

spec below..now that we got that clear heres my problem

i have had this card now for about a month or so and performance is fantastic just got a problem with the scenery in the distance wont keep still if ya know what i mean.. the buildings textures go wavy and stuff flickers like trees etc

i have tried numerous drivers for the cards and i am using the latest ones from nvidia at the moment

what i did was turn down the mip map level to 5 and its sorted it out but that affects the visual quality of the game...is there a way to have full mip map levels and keep the scenery still

i know i have worded that badly but any ideas??

Daz,

This issue has been discussed here before.... and if I remember correctly there have been no sloutions suggested except turning mipmap level down.

If I turn mine up past 5 I get the same mess with both the ATI 9600 pro and also the 9800XT.

best,

im having exactly the same problem with my geforce fx.Please let me know if you find a fix for this problem and i will do the same.Im in touch with microsoft  support site at the moment regarding this issue.Every bit of advice that they have give me hasnt worked yet.Microsoft hasnt contacted me now for 2 days and im beginning to wonder that not even microsoft know how to resolve this issue.I installed fs2002 to see if it had the same problem but,no it looked sweet. and ran fine.Fs2004 is just a mess.

Sorry if this is a stupid question but how does mip mapping level affect the game? Do objects get blury or something if mip mapping level is below 5? ???

Exactly.Yes, mipp mapping does make the distant scenery more blurry.I guess its the equivalent to draw distance settings on other games.Turning the mipp mapping down does remove the shimmering but,its not the answer to the problem.I have 6 sheets of a4 paper of instructions off microsoft but, none of it has worked yet.Maybe these instructions would work on your system? If you provide me with an email address,i could send you all responses from microsoft. However, microsoft assured me that this problem will be fully resolved soon.
