Are lower MESH numbers better then higher?

Postby uncertainty » Wed Feb 25, 2004 10:43 pm

This is a newbie question but do higher MESH numbers (ie 76m) give better image quality then lower (ie 32m)?

thanks

The numbers tell you how far apart reference points are in the terrain.

Any detail smaller than the distance between reference points will not be shown, or will be "averaged" with nearby terrain detail.

When you work all that out, smaller numbers means bigger detail. :)

SilverFox is correct.
Also, be aware that with meshes you will sometimes see another number called LOD (level of detail).  With that number lower means better.  Don't confuse the two numbers.

The smaller the number the better! :-)

Actually the higher LOD (Level Of Detail) number, the better. :)

Joe_D, you are absolutely correct.  It was a mistake on my part and I blame it on the beer I was drinking at the time.  I meat to say that the higher the LOD, the better which is the opposite of the resolution number.   :P :P

Sorry if I confused anyone besides myself.  Thanks again Joe! :D
