A quick question: In terms of building a pc, is a 1050ti video card a good match or overkill for FS2004?

A bit of an overkill imo, but fantastic for XP and P3D4v4 and futureproofing your PC. You will gain nothing in FS9. Wish I had one. Stupidly went down the AMD road....

Overkill for sure but that card will be great for games being released now
it could help FSX especially payware aircraft which require a minimum of 2 to 3 GB memory video card
just make sure you get the correct power supply for this card at least a 500 watt
the specs call for a minimum of 300 watt but you always want plenty of power to spare
Dont know if you all ready have this but make sure you download GEFORCE EXPERIENCE here's the link https://www.geforce.com/geforce-experience/download
this program will make sure your drivers are up to date and you can even use a custom installation which is what I do because I do not have a 3d monitor and have no use for 3d drivers

I can imagine that the OS is Win 10.

It is important that you adjust the Nvidia settings with Nvidia inspector and in the case of FS9 is essential to set Antialiasing compatibility: 0x004412C1 (DiabloIII)

Thanks for your input, sir. I don’t expect a 1050ti to give FS2004 blazing speed, but I want a good video card.

Good to know. Due to procrastination, I blew the chance to get an EVGA 550 G2 a while back. Thanks to CyberMonday, I got a brand new EVGA 650 G2 for $50.00 + tax.

Will probably be Win 10 as Win 7 support is going away in January 2020. I have Win 7 32bit but put that on a laptop that was passed down to me and it eventually died. Wish I had bought the 32/64 bit version.

Appreciate the suggestion about Nvidia Inspector. I haven’t had the pleasure of having an NVidia card. My last one was an ATI Radeon Sapphire 1950GT.

Ultimately with all MSFS products, the speed comes from the CPU primarily. Only lately since Prepared 64 bit has the emphasis moved toward a balance between Graphics and CPU.
