Where are you? Linn & BiLL Lyons

Postby Jean Loup » Fri Jan 04, 2019 2:36 pm

I studied Hight School in U.S.A. and living in Columbus OH or in Madisson WI (each year was a different location), I remember the Model Airplane Stores. I started to visit them jn México city as a fanatic aircraft modeler, starting at 13 years old with plastic models from Revell, Monogram & the LiNDBERG line. I did not favor 1/72 scale, too much small for me (& lots of "flash" for the size). One grows older and one fortunate day, start noticing that aircraft ARE MEANT to FLY, their shape (& beauty) being a function of MOTiON through our atmosphere, their wing being inherited from bats & birds. Starting with rubber power & a few aircraft gone with the wind, until reaching Cox model engines & Control Line system. With time I reached Fox .35 motors, more versatile at México city's altitude but very very rough on the fingers. Exactly like Lynn & Bill Lyons give atmosphere to their programs. The hangar is a replica of those Model Airplane Stores in the 50's & 60's (not only in U.S.A. but also in México), same models hanging from the roof, the same wood & glass furniture full with plastic models, layers of balsa wood, goodies galore...

This is why I preffer FS 2004, I lived the same era as most FS 2004 designers...

My story differs:
I was given the Microsoft Software Jukebox DVD with lots of stuff, among them FS 2004. Installs well but needs the sinnfull (but freely available on most addon sites) FS9 CFG to activate. Then I had a Desktop with Windows XP & 20 GB hard disc. It looked sheety and I did not ressurect it until I got a Lap with ViSTA OS. There I could (& still can) put all sliders right, addon sceneries, aircraft ... ETC!! Plus a Joystick... now I have a Lap with Windows 10 OS 64 Bits and Works great & smooth. BUT one, my favorite scenario BEAR CREEK won't install in a 64 Bits OS... (on my ViSTA Lap, it Works PERFECTLY season changer & all). By installing so much is how I became guided by certain names, most of'em flying now to the Other Shore... https://barefooteddiy.blogspot.com/search/label/Pioneer
