I had a similar issue took a while to find a substitute but I found this one (Russian site but do not be afraid it is safe) FSATIS http://www.unnt.ru/fsatis.php
It seems very good and small in size. I have used it for about 4 weeks now with no issues. In fact it even works in FSXSE. Oh and it is free!!!!

Yes I don't remember doing anything special to get it to recognise where FS9 and FSXSE lives. I tried today after your message but it could not understand P3Dv4.

The application FSATIS has no instructions on how to install or use. Perhaps Canuck1955 could help us out on that? Do you install it separately and run it outside of FS2009 or what?

OK, first I checked it through Avast anti virus and Windows Defender as a precaution before doing anything. I did not have any bad reports. It is a Russian thing after all. There is no install option. I just dragged the main folder out of the zip file (it may have come in another type of zipper but I change them all to zip files) I placed it outside the sim (FS9) on my D drive and ran the exe file as Administrator. It worked. Being the experimenter I also tried it on FSXSE and that ran fine too. P3D it could not find All three sims are on separate Hard Drives. It did not need to be told where to look for the first two.

The program when run places an icon on task bar and in sim it places a discreet box top right of the screen. This can be altered and/or hidden by accessing the taskbar icon. Various other setting are available.

I think it is just a great little application especially for FS9 as my Active Sky v6 is no longer supported. I use REX in FSX only because it is there. For quicky flights I use FSATIS in FSX too.

Hopefully that assures you. I am always wary with Russian things especially when the text is Cyrillic.

OK so you run FS9 and then FSATIS. What does it do, how does it work? How does it give you real weather in FS9? A little more information would be helpful here in deciding whether FSATIS would be useful since real, up to date weather is no longer available in FS2004.

Reading its ini file it seems to access Vatsim for its weather.
