I very much stand by my opinion of Howard's Natural World.
I've tried them all, probably every bit of freeware out there. (I prefer supporting the freeware developers), & for me, HNW works. As far as his tweaks go, well, we all have different hardware configurations, so no harm in trying. What works for others, may not work for you.

Cheers,

It will probably never 'die' but will become a specialist enthusiast's area.

There is a lot of nostalgia always. People love old games, toys, cars ... everything.

The best thing about it is it is SO upgradeable and customizable. That was the key to the sucess of the Microsoft Flight Simulator series and will be the key to it's survival.

I will keep one of my old PC's on XP.

Have a look at http://www.ford-tri-motor.net/frontpage.htm

This jumpstarted my FS2004, & I have a separate install just for this.
Here lives all of Mike Stone's & Milton's older planes.

I still fly FS9 with Howard's Natural World. Love it. Have done a lot of repaints and VC and 2D panel upgrades. Been flying FSX since I built a new computer. Still lots of my own repaints and cockpit upgrades. FS9 at my house will never die. I should, however, post all my personal paints & panel works for all that still fly FS9.

I think that the most important thing about FS2004, that is so different from the other sims, it that it just works!
You can actually spend more time flying than tweaking, & you do not have to have a powerhouse PC to run it.

Never too old to learn :-). Thanks for telling me about the HWN-scenery, never knew of its existence. Immediately asked for download permission.

And FS9 is still alive & kickin' for me! Greatest flightsim ever! Seldom a gauge problem or problems with installation and great for foddeling around with panels and conversions. Bought for almost nothing a second hand PC with full working XP on it , put a terabyte HD in it and it gives me lots of fun. Ofcourse no internetconnection, only put virusfree stuff on it.

And thanks to SimV never a dull moment :-).
