Fed up...

Postby stephan » Thu Mar 03, 2016 6:59 pm

I love simming. My favorite hobby...that is,until as of lately.
Seems like everytime I start my sim up,some new flipping problem shows up.
NOW,I reinstalled my PMDG 747 QotS and was really looking forward to a long flight and when I spread my windows out to seperate monitors, made a flight plan and returned to my cockpit,my cursor starts this very irritating rapid and spastic flashing when I hover over the buttons (hotspots) .
SO...I hit the internet and google for an answer.
Seems I am not the only one dealing with this issue.Seems like it shows almost exclusively with PMDG products,777,737,747.
But what I dont understand is I never had that problem before.
I tried every cutsie trick the others tried to remedy the problem and nothing helped.
I even connected my mouse to a different USB port.Nothing.
So,I tried other ac and spread their windows to my 3 monitors and no problem.Smooth as silk.
Now,even tho I had no problem with PMDG before, doesnt mean it isnt a PMDG problem.Since I last flew PMDG,I have added quite a few download add-ons. I dont remember which ones.I am not going to delete/remove those add ons for one lousy aircraft when the add ons work just fine with the other ac.
So..I have come here asking if anyone has any answers.
Because being who I am, I will seek an answer thru others one time.
If nothing helps,I bet you I find out if those PMDG disks fly well as target skeets and can withstand 12 gauge shotgun blasts.
Then,it'll be back to simming with products I have no problems with.
Like I said...when I googled the problem of flashing cursor in fight sim,PMDG was the main offender.
But I am the executioner.

Stephan,

In the FlightSim World, where almost every airplane either made or imagined has been made, the temptation is to keep one of each in our Virtual Hangars,
always ready for Duty when the need arises. And inevitably, when said airplane is placed in the FS World, it doesn't 'work as 'advertised'.

Sometimes, it's best just to do a complete Re-Install of the airplane in question, and see if that solves the issue. I have found that to be the only to get the airplane working in my current incarnation of the Sim.

Given the fact that PMDG has given up on the FS9 Market, I doubt that you'll get a straight answer from them.

Good Luck!

Using a shotgun is to easy. Try using a 22 or some other small caliper gun. The trick is to try to hit the hole with out damaging the disk. Now that would take some skill.
As for myself I have a Cross cut shredder that loves to eat CD'S and DVD'S. It just gobbles them up and looks for more. <<r

Hahahahaha! Gary, that was hilarious! Thanks for the chuckle. // OK... I had done a complete reinstall of the PMDG. Ya see,...I pulled (deleted the PMDG from my AC folder along with about 5 gigs of others to make some room on my hard drive for added virtual memory. I have 3 hard drives full of sim stuff not to mention something like 11 flash drives. When I flew my PMDG Beechcraft 1900D,I thought..lemme fly my 747. So,I reinstalled her. That's when the problem started. I went thru last night after I posted my original comment here and deleted FLYBY,Active Camera and a couple other modules and plan one last time to install my PMDG. Before I do,I'm headed to my system registry and delete everything in there that points to the PMDG 747 (gotta be careful since my 1900D is PMDG and dont want to kill it in the process. Once all traces of the 747 is gone, and I reinstall her one last time...if the cursors freak out on my,I will decide then and there whether or not to make coffee cup coasters out of the disks. I understand that when I installed the 747 for the very first time over a year ago and she flew beautifully, that is an indication that there's nothing wrong with the disks or the ac.SOMETHING is conflicting with her tho,and I quit fighting forever for good results. At my age, when you have fought every day with what seems like every aspect of your life,it gets a little tiresome and ya have to call it quits sooner or later. My fighting days are over. Now,...if it doesnt work,...It attains the classification of expendable and out it goes. Thanks gents for the laugh and the suggestion.

Steph, I had that same problem. I happen to know a PMDG developer who stayed at my plce for a weekend. Between us, we fixed it. Guess what, the simplest thing, a mouse setting that clashed with their code. It was the mouse trails! Yes believe it or not. This chappie (No names) promised to get the right guy to fix it.

Howdy Logjam.
When I set my computer up,one of the first things I do is disable the special effects for the desktop,no gradual transition from one window to another,no mouse trails or anything.
All of that extra cutsie stuff adds a drain on the processor, and I need as much processor power as I can get for my sim.
So,unfortunately,I cant use that solution, since I dont have my mouse cursor set with mouse trails.
Thanks for the comment and attempt to help bud.

At times like this I find the best thing to do is to walk away from all of it for awhile. Just forget about it all together. Than come back and nine times out of ten it hits you square in the face and you say how could I have missed this. It has happened to me more than once. Sometimes you just need to back off.
But what you have to try and figure out is what is different in your sim now versus when it worked with no problem. It is almost always something that you added since than that is creating the issue. My answer was to do the following any time I add anything i make sure that every aspect of my sim still works before I go on. It is always the things that you would never suspect of creating a problem that usually causes the issue. Some stupid little thing that you think there is no way this could be the problem. But do not think that way
I once deleted a JPG file from a folder and boy did that cause issues that you would not believe. It turned out that the file was being used by a registered program and when I deleted it it caused more problems than a WILD Rhino in a China SHOP

Honestly,I quit worrying about it. Only one ac out of my entire fleet suffers the problem.I cant see me putting any more time into worrying about it when I can fly other ac. The PMDG was fun while it lasted, but with the modifications I have done to many of my other ac,they are almost as intricate as the PMDG and just as fun to fly,if not more so. My problem is that I dont like to eb beat at anything. But,after fighting my whole life over everything, sometimes,I simply have to say to heck with it,and move on.
