Power Line Towers ..... How to Rid

Postby tbus » Mon Dec 07, 2015 8:49 pm

I've been trying a few different combinations of ground textures, and one of them .... who knows which one ..... has injected quite a few power line towers. I have no objection to towers in the scenery, but they are way too close to each other .... and seem to be "lit" at night ... pretty distracting.

Does anyone have an idea of where I can go, what to look for and how I can get rid of these objects without messing with any other scenery objects (radio towers / shopping centers / etc.)?

..... and I thank you for your support,
Bartles and James

That might not be a easy task. You first have to find out which BGL file has these objects in it, and than pray that there is nothing else in the same bgl file.
If they are in one bgl file simply remove that file and hope that it does not leave holes in the ground where they used to be at.
The only other way would be to completely edit the scenery, which might mean you would have to have the original files that were used to make it and the owner might not want to share them with you.
The other method would be to make your own scenery of the area and remove the other one. But making scenery is not the easiest thing to do. You have to know all of the coordinates for that area and most important is the elevation get that wrong and you could wind up with sunken scenery or floating scenery. <<u

Those electricity towers always add a bit of extra excitement for me, in making sure that I avoid them in my take-offs and landings, and all my low-level flights in between!

So many disasters have occurred in real flights in not noticing telephone and power lines! A real-life hazard!

Well, as it turned out ..... it was "easy pizza".

They're in the terrain.cfg:

// utility lines
[Autogen.0.0.0]
AutoObject="054382ec5h,04a43b1bdh,05f4f1aaah,0c3569352h"
ObjectSize=600
ExclusionWidth=20
ClipData=1
Offset=0
Density=100
PlaceOnWater=0
MinAutogenDensity=20

Density=10 seems to thin them out somewhat, MinAutogenDensity=101 gets rid of them completely. ObjectSize=10 makes a tower show up about every 6 inches, lol.

.... and now you know the rest of the story AND the importance of the FS2004 Forum.

Now that is what I call lucky. If that was me I would have had to go to all kinds of you know what to get rid of them.
Glad it was a easy fix

Wish I could help you bud. But you have seen me here on a number of times myself,asking for help on scenery editing assistance ... blasted trees in airports I make. But yep...those power lines are a drag. I imagine most here in the forum have seen the video of the B52 that banked too herd and lost power,and dropped a wing into high tension tower power lines and crashed. Really a sad event.// // http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D0O18pQUzS8
