My present FSX mostly looks better than my FS 2004, but its nice to know that various FS 2004 stuff is still available to use!

With my fascination with all my "Old Stuff", I tried to re-install my Flight Unlimited II, (1995), this morning, on my super-dooper, Win 8.1, Cray Gaming Computer....

...no-go!.... ...!

It cant figure out what all this "DOS" stuff is all about!.... :o ..... ....!

Will try my "Pro Pilot '99" next!

I liked the humour in flight unlimited II , I keep a copy of flight unlimited III just for the stemme s10.

I still have a 5 1/2" Floppy copy of MSFS. Used to work great with a Hercules card and Amber monitor. :ugeek:

Here in América Central (our Hacienda is just North of Cuernabalas MX) FS 2004 works with all sliders right!! I run TWO versions: Silver Wings (50's era) and Golden Wings 3 (30's era). Have installed the Duxford scenery on both, that way Warplanes have a pretext to fly amicably, no more WWII. I wish an OSHKOSH scenery update for FS 2004    I tried FSX demos, but my Lap lacks enough capacity & FSX staggers a speech impediment to the full!! :snooty:

I had success downloading an Icon A5 for FSX into my FS2004. Very nice flying aircraft BUT...No Pilot!! in FS 2004. Link http://simviation.com/1/download-file?f ... ileId=3584

I also had success with a GeeBee FSX texture "Rocketeer" reverted to 2004: had to convert DDS files into DXT3 files (using DXTBmp program) & inverted their position & modified Alpha (or the rib structure would not show under the canvas). Link: https://flyawaysimulation.com/downloads ... eteer/get/ (ad into GeeBee Super Sportster Z folder)

Also, O.Fisher's Ju-52 pack for FSX, works flawlessly in FS 2004, has no DDS textures but DXT3. Link http://simviation.com/1/search?submit=1 ... &x=19&y=11
Many FSX aircraft that use DXT3 textures work in FS2004. There is a "trade" or "fashion" to fase-out FS2004, because most aircraft in FSX are PAYWARE, while aircraft for FS2004 are SHAREWARE (the Mega Moolah i$$ue that'$ killing our planet :violin: :violin: :violin: )

There's a simple explanation for this. The visual models of all your examples were originally created with the FS2004 SDK. Open the MDL files in Notepad or Wordpad to check this out.
FS9 models will have this entry near the top: MDL8MDLH.
MDLXMDLH indicates 'True' or 'Native FSX' models created with the FSX SDK which are are not compatible with FS9.

I suspect that this is your Icon A5 (not the one from your link) --> http://simviation.com/1/search?submit=1&keywords=Icon+A5+Amphibious+Light+Sport+Aircraft&x=14&y=12

NEW QUESTION:

If FSX planes could NOT be converted to FS2004 ..... would REAL FS2004 users really care?

My vote ...... NO! Have plenty enough Planes, Trains, and Automobiles developed for FS2004 already. We don't need no stink'n FSX!

Strange sir Hagar, but both links go to the same A5.zip download. THANK YOU for the Model clarification

Ah yes. You're quite correct. Sorry.

I got confused with the native FSX version that I downloaded from the author's website. This one won't work in FS9.

Isn't Simulated Virtuality = Reality? Simulating something which isn't real has to place you back there through the wormhole effect (FS2004 feature only).

New question:

If untold responses about Hello Kitty along with talk of cooked cat recipes dominate the scene, how relevant can this forum be? Is anybody out there? Just say'n

Editor's note - This writer LOVES humor and uses it frequently, but if it is the ONLY topic being brought forward and being discussed ....... Oh My! I am chagrined!
