FS9 Shockwave 3D Light Redux problem

Postby stephan » Wed Oct 14, 2015 5:31 pm

First, ...it seems FS9 is slowly becoming a less involved sim for the designers. 8 days between the presently new download AC and the one posted before it. Sad days ahead maybe. Hope it's just a glitch in designer output,so to speak. //
Now...to the problem.
I got the FS9 Shockwave 3D Light Redux yesterday.
It modifies the lights on the AC and runways to look more realistic. And it does a GREAT job.
The strobes give off a star halo when it flashes.
The landing and taxi lights have the hazy 3d glow on the light beams,as if the air is humid, and the light is showing 3d in it.Looks real as it can get.
BUT...the problem is (and the biggest problem that is mentioned on the designers web site) is the taxi lights wont shut off when the gear is retracted into the ac body.
What this program really does is add a 3d glow in front of the stock landing and taxi light emission point (bulb,if you will) therefore,it requires additional lines of data on the AC cfg LIGHTS section.
The designers said to get the taxi light to shut off when the front gear raises after take off you must add a couple extra lines to the ac cfg and panel cfg files (which these new lines dont require taking up additional LIGHTS lines...which is a good thing since FS permits only 18 or 19 light data lines).
NOW...I tried these new lines and I still have taxi lights by REDUX showing even though the stock taxi lights disappear.
I am wondering if the REDUX lights are encoded to work as designed by using the stock key configurations,ie.,..."L" is all lights on,and so on.
If this is the case,I'm totally screwed.
When I got my Saitek 52 stick,I recoded the keys as...
L is for landing lights
T is for taxi lights
N is for navigation lights and so on.
Hardly any of my key codes are default.
QUESTION...:
Does anyone know if this is the problem? Does that program require default keyboard assignments for the lights?
If it does,I just wasted money, because I am not abut to go thru the headache of going thru the reassigning of the keys and switches not to mention having to go back into the FSUIPC and reassign there as well.
Any response folks?

A WORD OF CAUTION TO ANYONE WISHING TO USE THIS PROGRAM !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When you install the program,it automatically adds the lights in the correct spots on the default FS9 aircraft, and not to any 3rd party ac.
The problem here is,tho it doesnt delete any add on 3rd party textures you added for those default ac,it DOES install the default ac cfg file in place of your modified one,and you no longer see your 3rd party ac as it removed the 3rd party texture lines. You have to go back and add those into the ac cfg file all over again.
If you get this program to work as it should,it is worth the price. It gives an added realism to the ac that is easy to appreciate! BUT...if you're like me,and you get into problems like the taxi light glow still showing even when the gear is raised, then,it gets annoying.
BTW....when I speak of taxi lights not shutting off when the gear is raised,..I am speaking about the 747.That's the ac I am working this problem out with at present, tho the problem persists in all ac where the taxi lights are on the front retractable gear.
For the new effects to be used on non default ac,you have to add the light redux manually. The program only installs the effects automatically to default FS aircraft.
They also have the program for FSX as well.
Now...any input to my problem? I hope I hope I hope.
