Here I am, In the Flesh, flying and saying Goodbye Blue Sky as I enter Empty Spaces. Wondering if there is Anybody Out There in FS2004? If Notbody Home, then Goodbye Cruel World. Signed, me ..... Comfortably Numb

I've never used fs2004, but i can imagine the online world has died out. Heck, even the direct connect fsx community is dying off now. Fsx steam is probably doing ok, but i don't use it so can't say for sure.

If you are still eager for online multiplayer flying, maybe its time to consider cross compatible servers like VATSIM. Not everyones cup of tea, but at least you still have options to find other real traffic with older software.

Breathe, breath in the air,
Don't be afraid to care,
Leave, don't leave me,
Look around, choose your own ground. :D

I run my copy of "FS Host Spy*" every day, to see who in on line in FS Host Multiplayer for both FS 2004 and FSX, and I must say the skies are pretty empty nowadays, compared to what they used to be like, many years ago!

Multiplayer seem to have lost its popularity, in particular with FSX Pilots when FSX connection (FS Host Client**) became more complicated compared to the simple Multiplayer connection with both FS 2002 and FS 2004.

Having used Multiplayer since the old "Dial-up Internet" days, it seems to me that most Flight Simmers nowadays seem to spend most of their time generating Screen Shots, rather than "get-togethers" on FS Host Multiplayer, which is rather a shame, as I used to have lots of fun flying with many of my old Sim V Chums in the olden days.

I still regularly connect to FS Host Multiplayer with my FS 2004 and FSX....but its a very lonely sky!

Haven't used multiplayer since FS2002. I found out my computer was so slow, I couldn't see my partners till after we collided. Then I used B.O.B with multiplayer and got shot down so often due to the cheaters using high powered mods. Nowadays it's so difficult to fly multi that I just stick to Navigational exercises. <<t

As they say
Welcome my son welcome to the machine. Be careful with that axe Ugene I have not flown on line for some time now the main problem is the fact that you have to have the same fleet as the other users online have or you will not see the actual aircraft that a user is using The label might say B747-200 but unless you have one in your fleet you could see a Cessna 150 and that blows your mind when said aircraft is flying at FL 340. That use to really bug me and if some one uses a experimental air craft there is no telling what you might see.
The other problem was not everyone has a good internet provider and some were using DIAL UP :o and as others connected the server would start randomly kicking users off line.
If you are going to fly online the best way is to use a VPN and make sure all the users have the same aircraft. There are some Virtual air lines that have there own servers and it works pretty good. But I grew tired of it all.
And the other issue was there was almost always someone that just wanted to spoil every body's experience by doing stupid things

One of the great uses of "Multiplayer" was/is the ability to take new-comers on one-to-one; "Flying Lessons"!
Take-offs, cruising, and landings.
I used to get lots of thanks for that, especially when it came to "Radio Navigation", using the full Bendix-King radio stack on the Default Cessna 172 Trainer!

I'm sure I trained lots of young, and not-so-young, Sim V Flight Simmers in those early Multiplayer days!.... :D ...!

Much satisfaction, fun, and enjoyment to be had, all round!
