HMS Bounty is available for downloading.

HMS Bounty for FS9 - VERSION 1.1
Built Specifically for FS9 (an FSX version is available)

by Milton Shupe, Nigel Richards, Rob Barendregt, Sasha Rieger, and Rob Ibey. Helmsman by Craig "Full" Richardson

HMS Bounty 18th Century Tall Ship square rigger completely wind driven, individually animated and controlled sails, animated flags with direction and wind speeds, animated helm, and Sail Management Window to control all ship fuctions. Ship responds to wind speeds and direction with yaw, keeling, and pitch depending on sails deployed and yard arm positions. Ambient sounds, variable wind and gale storm sounds, ship's bell, "Salute", anchor weigh/drop all add to immersion.

WILL NOT WORK IN FSX as it contains FS9 specific sim interfaces.

NOTE: The latest version of FSUIPC is Required for the HMS Bounty to work. See the manual for link.

Note: Realism settings should be set to "Hard" for best Wind Effects.

Just uploaded the Version 1.2. This is a simple panel replacement update that improves wind effects on the ship's roll and yaw; much more realistic in handling wind gusts; also improves auto-skipper function in high wind speeds with high gusting winds. Try it in gale force winds :-)

HMS Bounty V1.2 Update for FS9 for all previous versions
Built Specifically for FS9 (an FSX version is available)

by Milton Shupe, Nigel Richards, Rob Barendregt, Sasha Rieger, and Rob Ibey. Helmsman by Craig "Full" Richardson

This update simply replaces your existing Panel folder in the HMS Bounty Folder.

WILL NOT WORK IN FSX as it contains FS9 specific sim interfaces.

Version 1.2 upgrades:

1) Further improvements regarding wind effects on yaw and roll based on the confluence of sails deployed, wind speeds and direction relative to ship heading, yard arms angle to the wind, and ground speed.

2) Auto-Skipper greatly improved for high winds and gusts to minimize the showing/hiding of sails

Thanks, team. Great & innovative, an awesome addon to my Golden Wings.

& here I go.... Any chance of a dilapidated pirate ship paint? Could be fun for multiplayer racing & chasing.

Hi Milton,

My god! What an Incredible model Sir! That sail ship is... let me put it this way, I loaded her into FS9,
booted her up, then I just walked around the deck, went up for a look atop the mast, spun around her countless
times before I even started playing with the bells and whistles. I just sat there looking in total amazement. All I can
say is WOW! That ship is literally a piece of art. BEAUTIFUL!

I would love to see what some of those shipwreck archaeologists would say if they seen this beauty. Geeez, sounds
like I'm sucking up or something. :) But I don't care! Thank you Milton and the whole SOH team for this gift! She
is in a class all her own man!

Forever A Fan,
Dwayne

Aw shucks! Thank you Dwayne. :-) We really appreciate your comments. This project was a "filler" project for me for the first 2 years using it to keep busy while I waited in the gaps on other projects in progress. But once I had the modeling done, I found I had exceeded the parts and polys limitations and could not export it unfortunately. So I had to remove a lot of parts below decks (Hold and Lower decks), and really reduce things on the upper deck.

Not to be beaten, we then focused on doing proper animations and doing the programming to be completely "wind driven". Rob Barendregt of "VTOL" fame joined the project to provide the wind propulsion and effects (roll, yaw, etc). and we then evolved and grew the ship's capabilities.

Nigel's artistry and sounds were complemented by some nice sound programming with Rob to further enhance our sound makeup.

Because of FS9 modeling limitations, I did not think I would be able to animate the sail yard arms and running rigging as I did, but I kept finding ways to add the necessary parts and do the necessary XML model programming to pull it off. There are a lot of "visibility" parts involved in the sail animations (over 120 clew lines and 40 sails), the foot ropes, the 4 different speed flags animations, to compliment the 258 standing rigging lines and 100 deadeyes.

We are pleased with what we accomplished and hope everyone gives the Bounty a try. The Bounty is quite immersive and relaxing. There are quite a few nice ports to launch from listed in the documentation to enhance the fun. There are also some awesome scenery and AI efforts afoot to complement this project.

Stay tuned :-)

Thanks
Milton Shupe
