Does anyone know how to disable or change the file that governs the over speed alert light. I have several aircraft that for some reason the light comes on well below cruising speed and will remain on. So I would like to remedy this problem.

Each aircraft.cfg has its own "max_indicated_speed=" and "max_mach =0.61000" entry under the "[Reference Speeds]" section. Thess are the indicated airspeeds in knots at which the never exceed speed will occur, whichever value is reached first.

Its not impossible (or even that unusual) to have a cruise speed higher than the never exceed speed VNe.


One turbprop payware single I operate has the following:

[Reference Speeds]
flaps_up_stall_speed=91.0 //Knots True (KTAS)
full_flaps_stall_speed=65.0 //Knots True (KTAS)
cruise_speed=300.0 //Knots True (KTAS)
max_mach = 0.78
max_indicated_speed = 278 //Red line (KIAS)
//MaxCruise = 340

Why would the cruise speed be higher then the never exceed speed? Cruise is listed as 'true airspeed' and 'never exceed' is listed as 'indicated knots'. It is possible to overspeed the aircraft at low altitude if you run up to "Cruise speed" before you reach "cruise altitude" especially if you disregard airspace speed limits.

I never cease to be amazed at the super-sonic speed (140+ knots) cruise speed of my trusty Cessna 150.

I mostly avoid multi-lane commercial flight paths, and stick to the single-carriageway, countryside routes of my choosing!
If a fly-boy in his F16 is impatient to overtake me, I just wave him past, with my left hand through the open window.

...funny thing is...I do exactly the same thing on my motor-bike, with impatient BMW drivers!..........!
