Real World Weather

Postby Gringo6 » Mon Nov 03, 2014 9:49 pm

A few days ago I loaded KMIA with real world weather. They had thunderstorms etc. Ever since then when I've been trying to fly out of South Florida all I can get on real world weather is thunderstorms. This does not agree with the actual WX data from the weather bureau. How can I clear the old weather data the FS9 downloaded from Jeppeson and get it to re load today's weather ? This is what I've tried to date: make cetrtain that the date and time are accurately loaded, I've deleted all the weather files in the "flight simulator files" on "my documents" and this has accomplished nothing. If I try to load "real world weather" in Miami it still loads THUNDERSTORMS. How can I stop this ?

Your help is requested

The Real World Weather servers for FS2004 (FS9) have been down for a LONG time now. Like a few years that I know of for sure. You get what's in the server at the time they shutdown, and that's all you ever get. In your case it was just coincidence it vaguely matched the real world's weather at that particular time.
You will need an add-on like FSRealWX lite or the payware ASN (Active Sky Network). I've found that FXRealWX works extremely well for me, with almost no framerate hit, and is very simple to install and use.
But that's just my opinion...

Same experience as PhantomTweak, FXRealWX is a good program.

I prefer to use Active Sky Evolution This program works for FSX as well But I have upgraded to Active Sky Next for FSX But I use the clouds from ASE.
One of the features I like is the ability to load your flight plan into it and it will set the weather up for each way point to the weather that is actually there at the time and it is constantly updating as you fly. This program uses dedicated servers to download truly REAL WORLD WEATHER.
Here is the link.
This program is worth every penny.

I'm trying to use FSReal Wx lite with FS2004 and the program will download weather alright but when I try to send it to FS2004 I always get the message: FSUIPC - Error Couldn't send Wx station to FS. Retry? I do have FSUIPC but do I need to program it somehow? Any advice from anyone will be much appreciated.

Every now and then a station, out of all the ones in area it's transferring in, will fail to transfer, for whatever reason. Just say NO and move on. It won't adversely affect the depiction of local weather in any way :) If you answer YES to the RETRY? query, all it will do is keep failing that one station and annoying you with the little query box.

Hope that answers your question :)

OK thanks Pat, I kept on with it as you said and it is working fine now with just an occasional minor station failure to send to FS.
