Hello Gwillmot! Good to see ya over here too :) Hope you have fun :D this is my first ever flight sim forum, and I really enjoy it. It IS a little quiet, but I don't mind at all. Seems to have fewer thin-skinned folks though :)
Anyway, have fun! See ya 'round :D

One has to remember that FS9 is getting up in age and most people have switched to FSX.
My self I still have FS9 installed and probably run it more than I do FSX
And in case you have not heard STEAM has taken over FSX and will be releasing it on there network soon
I have been picked as one of the BETA testers for this.
It remains to be seen what changes if any STEAM might make.

Personally I've never tried FSX, and at this point I don't truly know if I want to. It seems to me that the pitfalls of trying to make FSX run properly outweigh its advantages over FS9.

Perhaps I'm just getting old, and weary of change...

I am no spring chicken but agree with the fact that FSX can be a pain in the posterior . I was determined to get FSX running decently and finally succeeded.
But I used it as a excuse to build me a new system. It was my first new system I used to get the hand me downs from my son every time he upgraded I would get his old system.
And the best part was I really did not spend that much building it. Total price for everything was under $1200.00 which is not bad for what I got.
I saved $150.00 on the mother board alone. It took me almost two and a half months getting it all together. But it was worth the effort.

Morning, from Sunny Cape Town in South Africa. Yup, FSX IS a total pain! If FS9 is thw Windows XP of sims, FSX is the Vista. & I dumped FSX for P3D v1.4, as my laptop has no DX11, so I cannot get the new v2.4. But still better than FSX. I also find I'm spending most of my time flying FS9 & Golden Wings (the regressed version of FS9) as I really enjo the 'low 'n slows'.

Cheers,
Robin

...... and actually, I'm still using WinXP on my computer to run FS2004. I must be old and cheap, because this is the last flight sim and operating system I'm having ...... unless my old faithful computer bites the dust .................... or .... another one bites the dust .......And another one gone, and another one gone
Another one bites the dust ....... but I digress ...............
