I never had FS2004. I did have FS2002 then came back to the hobby and bought FSX and then FSXA.

The other day I saw a use FS2004 box for sale. Still there probably and wonder if I should get it.

Anyone have a direct comparison shot? I'd appreciate it


Otherwise I'll probably just buy it to add to my collection.

One of the main reasons for having FS2004 is there are a ton of both freeware and payware for it. I use both FS2004 otherwise known as FS9 and FSX
Software for FSX is slowly making its way but it is nothing compared to FS9. Now as far as appearances go that depends on the system you put them on.
FSX is a CPU and RAM hungry program in order to set all sliders to max you need a more up to date system. Where FS9 is not that demanding unless you are using a dinosaur for a system.

My FS 2004 was quite a nice upgrade from my FS 2002....
My FSX was a pleasant upgrade from my FS 2004, with a few more extra bits and bobs added.
Both FS 2004 and FSX are fantastic programs!

I run both FS 2004 and FSX, and much of my FS 2002/FS 2004 scenery, aircraft, etc, files are installed in my FSX!

Loads of fantastic FS 2004 "stuff" runs successfully in FSX!....always worth a try!... ...!

...and, of course, FS 2004 runs smoothly on slightly low-end computers... ....!

I'm perfectly happy with FS9, haven't had time anyway to check out FSX. Yeah, there's a lot of free stuff out scenery-wise for FS9. But one thing that's important, if you do get FS9, get the bridges update, you can find that on Microsoft's website somewhere, it's a big deal. The bridges everywhere will look like the bridges they're supposed to look like.

I'm running FS9 on Win7, I forget the spec, but I get good frame rates and no problems anywhere.
