Sky too bright at horizon

Is this normal? The sky appears WAY too bright and white at the horizon. Re-installing all the original textures didn't work. I dunno what to do next. Even the clouds appear completely blended in with the horizon, revealing no detail. I uninstalled that "SweetFX" thing; didn't work. Still too bright.

Any ideas how to fix it, and go back to the bland blue noon-time horizon?

Hi Plutonian.
Have you tried this HDEv2 made by Diaz

Looks like very realistic "haze layer" to me.

I get an incorrect file parameter error upon trying to download HDE.

And apparently, that's the default sky textures in that last screenshot I posted. Which is confusing, because I don't recall ever seeing clouds hidden by horizon haze even though visibility is set to max, and the max is set to the highest in the settings menus.

Well, do you know what....

I've just been watching Henry Cole riding his Saxon/Harley Vee-Twin on the TV "Travel Channel"; "Worlds best motorcycle rides", riding down Route 1 on the East coast in mid-day September, and I made a special note to examine the clear sky scenery during his travels, and low and behold, the sky is exactly the same as it appears in the first Pic in this Thread!
Deep blue sky overhead, gradually tapering down to almost white on the horizon!

Looks like the default Flights Sim "Weather" settings are almost perfect!

Paul.... :D ...!

P.S...whilst on the subject of U.S. roads, can any of my U.S. Chums tell me how they cope with the fact that the long, famous, Route 1 Interstate Highway appears on BOTH the US East Coast AND the US West Coast!
Two major roads with the same number!
..confusing?

.... ;) ....!

There is no such thing as Interstate Highway 1. The lowest numbered interstate highway is I-2.

The east coast features US Route 1 (not an autobahn-type limited access highway) and the west coast California State Route 1.

Ta Webb!

What I find confusing, as I often track both routes in my Flight Sim and Motor Bike rides on U-Tube, is that they are both referred to as "Route 1" on the maps and road signs.

All our English road numbers are all different throughout the country.

Hmm... I'm beginning to think it might be my monitor or graphics card settings, as the screenshots look normal when I log on via my Android mobile, and Fozzer seems to have confirmed that.

As for the forum error caused by my previous post, I had a link to my personal website posted on my profile. I removed the link from my profile, so hopefully it fixes it. :) My only explanation is that my website's files are hosted on a server built by a personal friend of mine, while the domain name is hosted by a web host service.

From what I can see it looks normal there is a term that describes this but for the life of me i can not remember what it is.
It is almost the same kind of effect of looking down a long railroad track and the rails appear to come together way down the track.
It has to do with the way that the sun hits the earth.

Why is the Sky Blue?

The blue color of the sky is due to Rayleigh scattering. As light moves through the atmosphere, most of the longer wavelengths pass straight through. Little of the red, orange and yellow light is affected by the air.

However, much of the shorter wavelength light is absorbed by the gas molecules. The absorbed blue light is then radiated in different directions. It gets scattered all around the sky. Whichever direction you look, some of this scattered blue light reaches you. Since you see the blue light from everywhere overhead, the sky looks blue.

As you look closer to the horizon, the sky appears much paler in color. To reach you, the scattered blue light must pass through more air. Some of it gets scattered away again in other directions. Less blue light reaches your eyes. The color of the sky near the horizon appears paler or white.

Looks like very realistic "haze layer" to me.
