Fuel and Payload settings...

Hello Chums!.. :D ...!

Fuel and Payload settings:

Does anyone know of a handy little free-bee program to allow setting the centre of gravity of an aircraft by manually dragging the "Icon" into its correct place along the fuselage, to automatically change the settings in the aircraft file, in this example?....>>>>

Image

Some of my aircraft have the C-of-G in the wrong place, by design, requiring desperate trim correction before take-off!

(My little Cessna 150 is wildly out of balance!).

The alternative is to constantly experiment with the various settings in the aircraft file, to balance the aircraft correctly!

Yeah, I have wondered about that C/G gauge from time to time. I wonder if that thing has to be set up by the model builder in the course
of making a new aircraft.

I say that because (on some aircraft) no matter what I do, it doesn't budge. I've had a hundred thousand pounds in one section of the
aircraft already and the C/G gauge didn't budge.

That is a interesting idea you have Paul!

I love it when the aircraft comes with that little program for changing the passengers and the wait balance. I wonder if there's a way to
make one of those programs work on any aircraft?

Ta for the reply, Dwayne!

I think you are right there.
It seems that some of the C-of-G settings are set by the aircraft designer in the ".air file", and even though we make alterations in the "aircraft file", they do not seem to take the desired effect in the actual aircraft!
I have tried all sorts of setting in the "aircraft file" for my little Cessna 150, (with various repaints), J.E. Narcizo C150_V2.zip (available at Flightsim.com).
No matter what I do, unless I drastically trim the nose down before take-off, she will almost take off vertically...followed by the inevitable stall!... :o ...!
So, maybe its something to do with the original design regarding C-of G and cant be altered?

Fozzer its not exactly what you describe but you can use ACM for FS9 to accomplish what you say you're looking for. It's not just a drag and drop but it is the easiest way I know of.

Hello Gringo!

Following a Google Search, it looks like ACM (Aircraft Container Manager) was a useful Payware program from long, long ago, designed for very old 16/32 bit Operating Systems (win '98/XP). Even if found on an old hard drive, apparently it cannot be installed directly into Windows 7.
Its no longer available, and looks like a dead-end for most modern applications.

On certain planes in my hangar I have to remember to over-correct the trim wheel before take-off, to compensate for the design error?

Paul...."remembering" is sometimes the biggest problem!.... ... ...!

Fozzer - don't be put off by what you read. I use it (with the patch which I'll also enclose) on FS9 very satisfactorily and I'm running vista and I think Win 7 will handle it if vista will.

Paul: Thank you very much for your offer of cookies, but unfortunaterly I must decline.

You may be interested to know that Karl-Heinz Klotz also offers Aircraft Airfile Manager V2.1 which is, as the name implies, to manage the airfiles. He says it is designed for FSX but also works on fs9. I tried to use it on FS9 once but without luck, and have not had an occasion to try since.

His e-mail in case you're interested is "kaha@inode.at".

As with his other works this is freeware.
