Downloading Problem - How to get around the autoloader

Postby Gringo6 » Wed Apr 10, 2013 6:31 pm

I'm trying to install Jens B. Kristensen's C-124 Globemaster II for FS9 and the autoloader keeps telling me that another program is trying to download something and I'll have to wait. This isn't true but I can't convince the autoloader.

I've tried some tricks to get around the autoloader but to no avail. How can you by-pass the autoloader ???

Any help will be appreciated !

You can open a lot of these packages with 7-zip.

far as I know you can't get around the self Installer !

you've evidently got something going on - somewhere ,,,,,,

but, once you are able to download the Aircraft, which I have myself by the way,,,,,

i'd download the contents of the file into a totally seperate FOLDER,, 1st - before Injecting it into your Simulator,,,,,

then copy & paste the Folders into the correct areas of your simulator,,,, providing you already know how to do that ????

I almost 99.9 % of the time never let Self Installers Inject anything into my Sim, till I throughly inspect all the folders & files manually,, then I go in and manually Inject them into the sim in their proper places.

too many times, in the past, I've witnessed those Self Installers NOT properly set up correctly by a Uploader, and you end up with files going everywhere or,, a bunch of folders dumped somewhere within the simulator, that you have to go search for, and still inject manually - copy & paste anyway,,,to the right areas to make the Aircraft or Scenery work anyway,,,

about the only ones I trust really are from Carenado themselves , Captain Sim, Justflight , most reputable been around a while PAYWARE sims.

If you get something somewhere off the net as FREEWARE,, from whereever,, you just never know,,

kinda like this, what if some newbie 13 yr.old from say the country of Hibie Jibie , dumped his contents into one of those Self Installers, and didn't exactly do it right,,, but thought he was doing it right,, and didn't know any better,,,, or basically understand the instructions within the auto self installer ???

then you get a hold of it thinking,, its ok,,, and download it, and PRESTO',, now you've got folders & files in places you never knew you could put folders & files !!!!

So many of us out here thats been around for a few Years, don't trust those self Installers,, for just that reason !

let us know how you come out,,, if you ever get the Aircraft or not ????

Amen to that Jetranger, most of the time when i get blocked by those pesky auto installers, i usually extract it on another older computer and like you id like to know what is going into my fsx or out of fsx folder. Love those ones where it auto installs and does not come with a uninstall option, good times.

Man you'd be Surprised at what i've found in some of those Folders lurking within,,,,

especially the older downloads,,,

I have found redundt un-necessary photos / screen shots within the sound folder, gauges folder effects folders,,, bout everything,,,

just eats up a lot of disc space really,, if you have a lot of Aircraft or scenery basically,,,

I've also had Aircraft folder buried within 3 or 4 different folders, within a folder within a folder,,, like digging thru a trash bin,,,, before ya ever get to the Actual Aircraft folder itself,,,

I can't imagine any SELF-INSTALLER being able to recognize which one of those many folders need to be placed where, it would confuse the Self Installer, which is why I bet some on here ask wheres their Aircraft once its downloaded,,, - it doesn't show up !!

that and if using FSX , lack of photos, that aren't correctly labeled "Thumbnail" , within the Aircraft Texture Folder,,,, I've caught plenty of those supposedly for FSX.

Yip, it took me sometime to correctly learn the proper way to Inject Manually Aircraft into the Sim,, but once I learned it, I became good at it .

Now , I have just over 4,755 Aircraft in my Simulator Hanger - something close to that anyway,,,

When I 1st started doing it, I assumed on the other end everything was right,,, and there were folders & files scattered everywhere, planes not showing up, missing gauges, missing effects,, etc.

I thought this sim kinda sucks, nothings right, nobody knows what their doing,,, it was a hodge podge way of doing things, no 1 certain technique everybody uses and sticks to,, just a kinda whatever way,, and send it out the door,,,

So, I decided to get a handle on it, if I wanted to continue to enjoy this hobby, otherwize it was going to be a waste of time, mainly mine !

It took me about 3 months to learn it all, watched a ton of YOU TUBE videos and read a bunch of how to articles, and lots, lots of practice on downloaded aircraft, trial & error,,, before I was finally really good at it.

that was over 4 years ago tho,,,

Now I'm into Aircraft painting, and tweaking Aircraft files and Texture files,, with over 6 different paint programs,,,

I use 3 different computers, 1 mainly only for Flight Sim,, the other 2 for painting, tweaking files and general internet surfing,,,, only.

Dats deeee Truth - and i'm stickin to it !
