What are your System Specs??

that system with the 800 mhz Athlon, 256 mb memory and the MX440 will run FS 2004, but it won't be pretty.

Don't pay any attention to what Microsoft says about minimum requirements for this game. They are misleading, and completely unrealistic (and that's putting it mildly)

It would run FS 2002 very nicely.

What fps will it run at

Different forums and different people are saying it will work
my freind has nearly an indentical pc (slighty slower) and he said it runs at 30fps

Sorry Georf,

Don't mean to startle you out of using the game, but what I mean is you won't be able to enjoy all that Microsoft has put into this flight sim.

You will be able to run it, but depending on what kind of flying you do ie:
which airplanes
which airports
what kind of weather

Maybe your friend is right. You may get 30 fps flying along in a Cessna 172 over the desert. I don't know what kind of flying you like to do or what your expectations are re:
the quality of the graphics you will see would be.

It's not as simple as 'what framerates will I get?'

FS 2004 performance is flakey and sometimes unpredictable. It may work reasonabley well on your athlon and really badly on a more powrful machine.

But in general, based on my experience, you will be disappointed with the performance on that system.

If that's the case then I wouldn't worry about it. With sliders set to low it will probably be acceptable.

If it was mine, and I could afford it, I would double the memory. That would be a big help.

Just thoght i would let you know i'm getting on with my system. 2004 just plopped through this morning courtesy of Amazon not bad for 30 quid. Spent last night installing a 256 graphics card and 1 gig of ram. Running a pentium 4 1.6ghz. Not loaded the sim yet. What sort of results do you think i will get with that. I don't want to blow my brains out on my computer. What do you think the best settings would be for this. Cheers.

Ive heard fs2002 atc is all fuzzy and is low quailty and they have the iq of a fish etc etc and its too late, its being delivered

I just got a new computer. IT's Awsome!! i used to only be able to play fs 2002, now I can play fs 2004! Now i know what i was missin out on.  ;D

Later when we get more money were upgrading to 2 gb of ram and maybe a better graphics card.

Mostickity, I don't mean to offend, but I don't quite see the point of getting a P4 3.2 GHz (which is very good indeed) and then putting with it an nVidia GeForce 5200. The card is just too weak, getting a processor like that and putting such a card in the same system is injustice.

Also, I would recommend that you get at least another 512MB ram, so your total would be 1 GB. This will provide you with a better overall Flight Simulator experience. For your graphics card, I would recommend an ATi 9800 XT, if you can spend more then a Radeon X800 Pro should do the trick.

I'm amazed you don't get the occasional crash with only 300Watt PSU. At minimum witht at setup I'd have 400.

Looks like I should look for a power supply. But according to my APC power backup. It runs at 242 watts, so I am getting close.

Where did you get the Windows XP Game Advisor info ?

Hey I found the Windows XP Game Advisor.
Cool program. It shows my computer one bar from the right to be able to play FS9 !
Doom 3 is only about half way ! !

Mostickity: 2gig of ram would be a waste too. Take it up to 1gig and get yourself a decent graphics card!
