If E-Bay can't stop idiot's from doing deceiving things like that, then EBay really should be shut down. That is something they should be able to control & EBay as well as the seller should be responsible for it. Instead of just banning this person, Ebay should take legal action against this person. The have his credit card info so it is possible.

Yeah.. I think EBay is VERY lax in how it approches such stuff.  The guy's OTHER (still online) offering is ALSO likely the same kind of "freeware" software too that he is selling.

And anyone who has half a brain would check the feedback before buying... and anyone who saw that feedback and still bought... deserved to get ripped off  ;).

best,

As I have stated before, Ebay can't even allow you to post a feedback without registering with all your REALLY personal information [credit card number included]. I never trusted this site before, even when it was first born. The idea of relying on an UNKNOWN seller to honestly deliver the items AFTER paying him is rediculous and tooooooooo risky.

Anyways, I am really tired of having to register an account just to make a post [that includes e-mails]. And with the fact that Ebay only sends an AUTOMATED reply regarding piracy and scams makes it unlikely that the webmaster is even listing. The webmaster probably gave up and left the site running on its own. :-/

How is one person suppose to spread the word out if Ebay can't let you?

The only way we can spread is with these methods:

1. Post warnings in sites like these.
2. Go out into the street, talk to random people and warn them about such things. Better yet, set up a stand.
3. Chat with people in AIM, MSN Messenger, Yahoo, etc. and let them all know.

Basically do as much as you can to let these people know about freeware sites like these and how thieves are stealing the free downloads and selling them off. I have recently let my supervisor know about this and now he knows. From there, he can spread the word for me while I spread the word to others.

There could be a quick way to "disrupt" Ebay sellars of stolen freeware.
If the item/s in question are put up for bid and not an immediate buy, click on the highest bidders name. You then get a screen about this persons buying habits. You also have the option to contact buyer. Now what sort of information you choose to send to that person would be down to the sender of said email, however it could be a:
Are you aware that you are bidding on stolen property, nice and friendly. And at the other end of the spectrum, I am sure that if you received a legal-ish looking email about stolen goods up for sale on ebay and your willingness to bid on said stolen goods, would you then think twice, or maybe withdraw your bid.

Just an idea

Notice he's no longer a registered user - so like all the scammers on eBay - he now probably has a new id --

& I really wonder what they can do about that in  reality!

The general rule should be that anyone using eBay really should look at the feedback of sellers before buying....

The sad fact is that I myself have met many poeple who glaze over when you ask them if they did that!

There are a hell of a lot of folk out there who surf - having about 30% understanding of what they are looking at  - & trust.

I think that governments need to enact laws related to 'rip-off merchants' - beyond 'let the buyer beware' - CONSUMER PROTECTION  - with references to drug dealing or fraud.

Typical - but at least he has lost the feedback he has.
Perhaps there should be a watchdog here that can scan ebay every now and again and have ready made up emails to send out in such occasions.   8)

...What he is doing is not a "service" ... it is a money making operation.  A commercial operation.  A "service" would be a friend with broadband copying the stuff to a CD and mailing it to you for the cost of postage (or not even that)...

I would respectfully submit that legality aside (not sure you are correct on your ascertation but let's assume you are) what is the number two eBay guy doing that is all that different than the pay sections in Simviation?  I chose to use the free download process and it took 15 minutes for me to download one aircraft.  Perhaps things work differently on the other side of the pond but what is wrong with free enterprise?  I doubt if number two eBay guy is going to get rich. Why all the anger? Price seems reasonable to me.  Hell, if it weren't for the distances involved I might take him up on his offer.

.... Yes it is a bit slower...... but hey... it's free.

Check out my profile.  I am an old fart! I have more money than time.

Sheesh.... Sorry I stepped on your toes.  I shall think long and hard before voicing a dissenting opinion in this forum again.    ::) Buy the way.... This will probably really torque you all off.  I purchased my copy of MsFS 2004 in an unopened retail tin on eBay for $10 including shipping. Does that mean you all going to send me a virus?

Seeing how much money I have, I might become a Premier SimV member one day and give something in return [even though I am already uploading addons].

This site has been really great and I want to contribute even more for the cause.
