I HARDLY EVER crash, but.....I did yesterday. I was flying the new Christen Eagle (AWESOME plane!) and I guess when I went for that Split-S I thought I was a bit higher.... :P ::) ;D

Actually I lied-I did run out of fuel once on a short hop from Memphis (I think) to St Louis after a grievious error in my fuel planning, increased headwinds, and a go-around; I carry enough fuel for an hour and a half of extra flight now, trust me ::)

That was my only ever crash while flying serious commops.

I usually only crash when I get bored and start screwing around :D Or sometimes on landing..

Never... ;)...!
...trust me..
I only fly the sort of aircraft that I have been experienced with over a few years....Small GA aircraft...!
I use the art of take-off, cruise, and landing seriously...as you would in a real aeroplane if you have no urgent wish to die... ;)...!
The FS 2000/2002/2004 flight simulator is an excellent trainer for the real thing, so perfect control is the thing to aim for in readiness for that first trip up into the clouds.....
...and not taking out yourself, your instructor, and the aircraft during your first botched landing... :'(...!
....Crashing is for Grand Theft Auto enthusiasts....not for the sensible flight simmers... ;)...LOL...!
Here endeth the first lesson...;D...!

Cheers all...!

Ah thats cheating!

Well when you crash as much as I use to, turning them off is a good thing.

Strange that..

Loads of people think flying helo's are hard.. but i find it easier than flying normally, less things to worry about..  :D

I envy you, my friend. I've stopped trying to use helos, they damage too much... :( my ego. ;D

Well i usually misjudge the landings, and either overshoot or undershoot the runway, which isnt usually good in a heavy comjet.  I also try to do daring landings such as getting a 777 into Plymouth City Airport.  I have crashed a 747 doing a loop at 10000ft, but i have successfuly done hammerheads in C-130's with feet to spare !

Care to share what C130 are you using that allows you to do hammerheads? :o

I don't see the point of having crashes on-you know full well when you've crashed, why do you need the sim telling you and then restarting your flight? ???

Usually I crash when chasing AI aircraft - some of them allow you to get pretty close, others do not.  Also, flying fast jets at low altitude, you tend to plow in pretty good at times (disorientation, blackouts) :P

i hardly ever crash. but that may be because i hardly ever bother to land... mind you if i do crash its because some silly person didn't make enough ground clearance when they designed that bridge...

My reasoning flows instead the other way around. There are situations where, with the crash detection unselected you may think you never did anything that for real would have granted you a crash, but instead would have you destroy the plane.

Say, you're taxing in a tight spot and with a wing you clip another plane/a building. Unless you're taxing in spot view (and this is something I really don't like to do, unless for fun and from time to time. It kills the realism if abused) you'll never know. You'd have destroyed the plane for real. You're taking off instead like nothing ever happened.

Same thing with heavy landings, tail strikes, nose divings in landing that would destroy the front gear...
