It was me, and they did say it would be backwads compatible.  That's the ONLY thing they would say about it...  ::)  ;)

flying default aircraft will not be bad in fs10. because they will be new aircraft. hopefully they won't have put in any pointless ones like that wright brothers flier. its ok for one flight but what can you do with it from there. i think we should place trust in our aircraft designers. i beieve that they will keep giving us top quality dowloads son after the release of fs2006

While admitting I'm no expert on the subject I believe the general expectation is that FSX will be engineered for 64bit technology. This almost cetainly means that not only will your FS9 addons be useless with the new sim but those who have'nt already, will need to upgrade their processor to play it.

Sorry Boys!

The truth is that FS9 is being played by more people worldwide than all of the previous sims put together. It is a true classic.Brilliant but Flawed.

As for me,fifty next birthday,I dont give a toss about FSX.

I don't think it will.  The 64 Bit OS is just rolling out and 64 Bit computers are still kind of few and far between.  While Windows may want FS to be 64 bit, the support for it is just not there yet...

I'm just starting to have fun with FS2004 and all the things that you can do with it, like adding detailed scenery...after devoting months of work on such a project why in heck would I want to switch to something that won't support the format anymore?

I doubt Bill Gates would risk making FSX compatible only with 64Bit because it will hurt the sales of FS [one of M$'s big revenues]. Therefore, less profit. It's the law of supply and damand - don't you remember economics class? Pretty much like selling ice scream at a stand. If you sell during the winter, no one will buy - unless your customers happen to be abomidable snowpeople.

See what I mean, that's why we need a support,i 've mentioned here from microsoft because we are the users of its game, united maybe we can be heard to avoid a thing like that change into a 64 bit mentioned above,i said I HOPE MICROSOFT DESIGNER SEE THIS TOPIC as many from all over forums from all the flight simulator world....I read this:I'm just starting to have fun with FS2004,yes CAFedm  after 2 years me too...it would be a shame if they change the root of this wonderful software

Eventually, there will have to be a point where the switch is made.  Pretty soon, these old 32 bit engines are going to look as archaic as Win 95 does now.  I just don't think it's going to happen with this one.  FS11, maybe, but not now.  Besides, I heard it straight from the horse's mouth that compatibility was not going to be an issue with this version.  :)

I would think anyway, that there would be some way to make them compatible.  I don't know...

Seeing how popular AvSim has been, maybe we should post this kind of thread over there. Just an idea.
