I doubt that reinstalling FS9 is necessary. The methods described in my tutes have been tried & tested on all versions of Windows. Providing you follow them carefully there's no reason my instructions wouldn't work on WinXP.

Brown - are you actually following what these guys have said? You have not said what you are actually doing.

This has nothing to do with XP. It has to do with following simple instructions.  ;)

The Beech 1900D in my example is aliased to use the sound of the FS9 default beech_king_air_350. If you followed my instructions exactly the only possible reason I can think of for it not showing on the menu is that you deleted the beech_king_air_350 folder by mistake. In this case a reinstall of FS9 should fix it.

PS. Renaming the beech_king_air_350 folder would cause the same problem.

..Yes Hagar it does look like Brown did a whole lot of strange things there.....and the reinstall PLUS the CORRECT way of installing the aircraft should do it...having said that...mmm...... ;D ;D ;D Good luck Brown...commoner ;)

If I'm reading it right, Brown has simply tried reinstalling the Beech 1900D by downloading the file again & pasting the files individually into the existing install. The fact that this didn't work almost convinces me that he either deleted or renamed the default beech_king_air_350 folder to tidy things up. He won't be the first to do this & it would explain why the B1900D & other addons don't show up.

Brown. Open your FS9\Aircraft folder to check it out. It should look something like this. If the beech_king_air_350 folder or any of the others are missing that would explain a lot. Please note that the default folders must be named exactly as in my shot although they're not case-sensitive. The extra300 folder could be named Extra300 or EXTRA300.

Hagar, or anyone else

I did a install exactly the way you stated but the gauges in the panel weren't there.

So what I did was take the gauges out of the folder and put them in the gauges folder. Then they showed up and were working.

Beings that worked out, I just figured that was the way. Am I wrong? or what happened. I really can't tell you what I did in more specific terms, cause I'm not sure.

I was working on the dream gmax fokker 50 (from this site) with the additional panels that Hagar found. Humm, maybe this is why the shift 8 closes the 9.1 program?

I'm glad that Brown got it all working.

Hi Marlin. Yes that is the correct way to install the gauges. The method I use is to open the folder the new gauge files are in, click Edit/Select All & paste the complete contents into FS9\Gauges. When installing gauges it's a good idea not to overwite files/folders if prompted. In FS9 Only - gauges will display if pasted into the Panel folder of the appropriate aircraft. This can be useful if you wish to try the aircraft or a panel before permanently installing the gauges.

I was working on the dream gmax fokker 50 (from this site) with the additional panels that Hagar found. Humm, maybe this is why the shift 8 closes the 9.1 program?

I suspect this is the cause of your problem. When installing complex panels like this one read the included instructions carefully.

PS. The 3 different styles of gauge used in FS9 (& FS2002) complicates things & can cause confusion. The folder & 2 files in this shot are all gauges. The folder & CAB file contain XML & BMP files. These are known as XML gauges. The folder & CAB file should be pasted into FS9\Gauges just as they are.
