I purchased FSX on the day it was released, and very soon found out that it was very inferior to my existing FS 2004 when forced to reduce all the FSX settings to obtain satisfactory Frame Rates and smoothness!

I still have it installed on my hard drive but never use it, as I have no wish to be associated with the FSX Forum when having to discuss the FSX Sim... ...

...I have this image of a "Pit of Vipers" each time I consider it... ...!
(I've watched it closely from day one!)

So its FS 2004 for me all the way, until the day arrives when I can run it with suitable Hardware, and M$ have finally got all the FSX problems fixed, so that I have no need to visit the FSX Forum.. ...!

F....FS 2004....with a smile... ...!

No worries, Foz   :)   By the time you get around to enjoying FSX, all the trail blazers will be clearing the FSXI forest in the FSXI forum; fighting and enduring the bloodbath of people blaming everything except their 5 year old hardware for the problems. The FSX forest will have long been tamed and populated by the settlers, happy and content to move in after the dirty work is done  :D ... and the cycle goes on...

Tee-Hee.... ;D..!

Like me, Brett, you have been here long enough to have gone through the various FS incarnations...
FS '98, FS 2000, FS 2002, FS 2004, and FSX, and although I hung back for a little while before changing from FS 2002 over to FS 2004 (although I purchased it on the day it was released), mainly because I was very happy overall with my copy of FS 2002, and all I can recall was the light-hearted ragging from my FS 2004 Chums, such as;

"...come on Fozz! Pop over and join us in FS 2004! You know you want to!...LOL... ;D..."

Which I soon did, there was a nice improvement in the quality of the Sim, and my existing FS 2002 Hardware coped adequately with the new Sim (FS 2004)... [smiley=thumbsup.gif]....!

Small, low cost upgrades over time have even improved it slightly...;)..!

That never happened with FSX!
Quite honestly I can't remember so much Vitriol being thrown around over the introduction of a new version of the Flight Sim, and so many Members disappearing because of it.... :o...!

Maybe the M$ design team took too much notice of the various Simmers requirements/demands this time, and came out with a version which was way beyond anyones hardware capability from day one!

I've still got my FSX in my drawer, and one day, just for fun, I expect I will re-install it again....
...but in the meantime I will enjoy my problem-free FS 2004 with all my Multiplayer, on-line, Chums... [smiley=thumbsup.gif]...!

Cheers Brett... ;)...!

F....G-BPLF... 8-)...!

Yeah.. it's a, "gotta take the good with the bad" deal. FSX was definately the biggest leap in hardware requirements, leading to lots of frustration... and the biggest leap in improvements and features, too. If you gotta fault on either side of that, I'd rather go the path of FSX. I enjoy many types of computer gaming... the animations/graphics-renderings are becoming unbelievably advanced... If FSX, was nothing more than FS9 with a few improvements; you'd have have the crowd that would throw fits over that, too. I'm not quite sure how it got so vitriolic, and it's really not worth analyzing. Probably the clash between people trying to constructively work through the problems, and the people who were just throwing temper-tantrums. I just don't like the idea of the "Foz" not being in the FSX forum after it becomes a peaceful place. It really is whole new level of simming.  :)  (especially appealing to the "low and slow" pilot  ;)

I'll write home from the FSXI war zone   :D

Cherry cheers....  Brett..
