The first plane I ever landed was the Concorde in FS2000 where I flew from JFK to Paris overnight. Couldn't make it by day because my computer couldn't handle it but I distinctly remember I switched AP off to try and go in without it and I ended up circling Paris for 30 minutes trying to figure out where to land  :o Eventually I gave up on it and landed at a small airfield but it was still pretty fun after all that time in the air. 8-)

After figuring out who to do proper flights in fs2004, i felt  good, only the problem was i didnt know witch plane to use!!...............................................................so many planes i thought!!!

I did it backwards. I dont think I ever landed in my FS2000 before I landed a real 172, and not very well. Imagine my surprise when the realization hit me that one MUST point the aircraft at the ground to ever get there. It took over a dozen flights before I quit shaking when I got out of the aircraft. After landing a real aircraft, the sim was a lot easier.

Congrats, Dan! Enjoy one of the least expensive escapes ever. One of my most favorite things about landing is doing a great approach, where I'm configured properly in every phase, nailing the airspeed, and my turn to final is perfect. I just wish it happened more often!  :D

Well you are hooked now. Your next step is to engage crash detection and slowly increase the realism settings. After you fell confident with your skills take on a ILS landing and learn to navigate using VOR'S and NDB'S. Just make sure to have fun and go at your own pace. Tell the wife she has her hobbies this is your hobby.
There is so much out there to make this sim as real as you want it. 8-)

Let me see... I believe my first landing was in a 172 at Meigs on FS98, when I was five. I remember my grandfather looking over my shoulder and saying "Dont push the nose down, you have to land level or you'll smash the gear off! (probably followed with a non-repeatable comment)"
  First airport-to-airport flight was a 737 across the Hawaiian islands (West-East). I remember I didn't know how to use VOR so I dialed in the Honolulu NDB, then the Hilo NDB and flew the entire route manually at 5000 feet, watching the big map book that came with FS98 to make sure that I was on course. I remember after landing at Hilo that I had so much adrenaline pumping that I couldn't stop bouncing off the walls for hours.
  I sure wish Microsoft would provide those map books with their sims again. They sure were handy when you didn't want to pause the sim to check the map (or spend money on real world sectionals, Im lucky enough to just steal my father's old ones.)
  Anyways, congrats, you are now officially hooked. Simming is definitely one of the most addicting (not to mention expensive!) hobbies ever.
