hi again! still having the same problem, heres what i copied from my fs9.cfg [OLDMODULES]
FSsound.dll=1
FSUIPC.dll=1
Im pretty sure ive done it right so im puzzled whats causing the problems, when i first managed to get the viscount cocpit i didnt add the old modules thing or the 2 dlls, and it worked fine, then when i did that all the gauges dissapeared so i re did it and the gauges were back and for a expriment i removed them again and the gauges went, so its seems the first time i did it they didnt need the dlls at all, now ive added them they wont work without them but i have to get that error message instead!
one thing thats odd is your picture above showing all the gauge files, mine dont look like that, they look like notepads, also my dc8level gauge has this in it which i dont think is right even though the gauges are all there and working

In that case the only explanation I can think of is that you're editing the wrong file. There is a backup file named fs9.CFG.txt in the same location as fs9.CFG on my system so maybe you're editing that by mistake.

The gauge (GAU) files should have the standard Windows 'Unknown Application' icons as in my shot. You have obviously associated the GAU file format with Notepad at some point. This shouldn't affect the gauges in any way but you won't be able to edit the files in Notepad. I don't know where you found that error log.

one thing i can think of that may be causing the problem, do i have to use the dlls from the viscount fix download, because if i had those 2 dlls before i might have used the old ones instead of the viscount fix ones and maybe thats whats cauing the problem?

This could explain why FSUIPC.dll is giving error messages. The file contained in the Viscount 800 panel update is an earlier version that needs the [OLDMODULES] CFG entry. Later versions of FSUIPC.dll do not need it. This still doesn't explain your problem with FSSound.dll

Aha!!! i sorted it, i was indeed adding it to the wrong file, i had 3 files in the fs9 cfg, 2 were notepad things, and there was another symbol which i didnt explore before, this was the actual cfg file so i di the entry in that and it works fine!!! no error messages! as you can guess i am completely dumb when it comes to pcs! ive never really messed around with files before so please excuse my dumbness!
I have run into a new problem now, i downloaded a bristol 170 freighter (again part of my mission to recreate Eastleigh airport of the 80's!) i downloaded it of another site as i couldnt find one in the correct livery here, there are no gauges in the cockpit but it tells me that it uses dc3 gauges and all i have to do is copy the dc3 cab file into fs9 gauges, but i cant copy it, its a zip file, do i have to unzip it into gauges or is there a way i can just copy it into gauges? i did unzip it into fs downloads then i thought i could copy it from there,  but that caused me to loose all my gauges of the dc3 so i unzipped it back to dc3 panel and luckily the gauges of the dc3 were back, i only need a hs 748 to complete my 80s collection now, but cant find one in the liveries i want!

Phew! We got there at last. ;)

May I suggest you read my Working with Windows article again & set your Folder Options like mine. This will make it so much easier to identify those files.

You will find Douglas_DC3.cab in the Panel folder of the FS9 default Douglas_DC3. This is an XML gauge in CAB format just like viscount.cab included with the Viscount 800 panel. Do NOT extract it. You can copy it as many times as you wish. Right-click on the Douglas_DC3.cab icon & select Copy. Then open the FS9\Gauges folder, right-click in a clear space & select Paste.

Yessssss! it worked, i did extract it before into a new folder i named dc3 cab thast when i lost the dc3 gauges, but they came back when i re extracted them back to the dc3 panel, i diont know if its done any harm but it all seems to be working fine now, so now i have my instone bristol freighter, which was the oddest plane ive ever seen at our airport! i dont know how acurate the cockpit layout is, as its using dc 3 gauges but perhaps those gauges were used on other aircraft as well,  it seems to climb out a lot better than the Viscount which suprised means the viscount has 4 engines which i would imagine make it more powerfull than the bristol and the bristol is hardly streamlined! maybe its just something to do with how its been programed, im not going to mess about with the flight dynamics or whatever its called! i also managed to downlaod air atlantique livery for the dc3 as these used to operate form Eastleigh, im pleased with myself i was able to do it! going to try and get a British air ferries livery for the viscount now, as i remeber these more than the guernsey one i have, although im sure guersney ones did operate from eastleigh!
ive said it before and i'll say it again, thank you very much for all your help

Glad we finally got it sorted. Interesting project you have going there. Channel Airways used to operate DC-3s & Bristol Freighters from my local airport at Shoreham in the good ol' days.

just down the coast then! isnt shoreham where BAF used to have all the viscounts? i managed to geta  trislander to, and not just any trislander but G-JOEY, sad as it may be when i was a kid G-JOEY was a familair and freindly plane and actually quite a celebrity, joey even had a set of childrens books which i had all off! and has a smiley face and red nose which makes him stand out from the trislanders, and joey is the only plane that used to visit our airport back then that still is a regular visitor! i always recognise him as still has the face and red nose! back in the good old ddays when the airport was more freindly they would alow us to go in the cockpit and i was very happy when i got to go in JOEY! now i get to fly him!!! funny thing is, its for fs2002, but i though what the hell and downloadd it, and it worked! the G-XTOR for fs2004 one was messed up, had the wrong cockpit, even my freind was beat by it, he managed to get the cockpit right but when we loaded it up it just crashed, like the nose uc just collapsed, still i have joey and hes betetr than xtor anyway!
Im having anotehr problem now, nothing to do with downloading planes, its downlaoding the real world weather, as soon as its loaded the screen goes black then returns to my desktop which is annoying as i was using real world weather earlier today and it was fine so im really puzzled by this, ive tried rebooting but still have the same problem, i'll just have to keep trying i think!
The Bristols, well on some website which i cant remember now, it says they were common visitors to our airport in the 80s the last services were in 87, but ive lived here since about 82 and only recall seeing them about 2 times! and ive never been down the airport when one came in and i practicaly lived at the airport! also my other freinds who have lived here all there lives dont even remember them at all,  but they are very distinct so i definatley remeber seeing it once or twice, i dont think they were that common after all!

Just a few miles down the road. I often pass Eastleigh on my way to various air displays & other events but believe it or not I haven't visited the airport for many years. I've never seen a Viscount at Shoreham. I'm not sure the runway is long enough & I don't think BAF ever operated from there.

ARRRGGHHHHHHHH!!!! I have been downloading planes, panels, liveries now now with no help and thought i finnaly had it sussed but now im stuck again on a dornier 328 basicaly i want a  dornier 328 in scot airways colours, i found the plane and the livery but cant get the livery to work, and i altered the cfg correctly, all i could find for the dornier is AI aircraft then i found one that says its got something to allow it to be used as a normal aircraft but it still wont take the scot airways, all i get when i added the texture and altered the cfg, when i start fs2004 it says dornier then i see scot airways but wheres theres normaly a plane its just a black window and i tried loading it anyway i get aircraft initiation error, hope you can help as this is the only plane i need now to complete my Eastleigh airport past and present collection
