The 737-200 could land on gravel runways if they were equipped with additional equipment. Alaskan Airlines used it back in the days

I dont believe that those pictures qualify as "commercial" 737's, as the bottom one clearly says NASA, and both look more like T-43's, due to the small engine (which means there is more ground clearance than a commercial 737)...

I could very well be wrong.

According to my 737 bible, and I quote

"....Changes included new high-lift devices and braking improvements and low-pressure tyres, as well as new deflectors fitted to protect the lower fuselage and engine intakes from scuffed-up stones and debris on rough runways. FAA certification for gravel runway operations was forthcoming in February 1969"

It's no secret that Alaska, Wien Consolidated, Nordair etc used the 737 on unpaved runways.

The "small" and long engine was standard on all 737-100/200s true the last one does say nasa.

Ye, those were the P&W JT3D's, which was the best choice available at the time.

But when the 737-300 was launched, the best engine available was the CFM56, and since then every 737 has been fitted with engines from the General Electric/Snecma alliance.

Right, I apologize, I forgot that the "default" 737 in FS9 isnt the standard 737 throughout the ages :D haha
