At that time [1909] the chief engineer was almost always the chief test pilot as well. That had the fortunate result of eliminating poor engineering early in aviation.

Anyone ever topped 100fps? I have 8) ... but it was in the middle of the Pacific with no clouds and water detail turned off. It was still amazing to see that "100" up there.
