Thanks for all the replies and all the info.  In the event this Mosquito will not come up in FS.  Believe me I have gone over everything a dozen times, done the printouts, studied all the links etct etc  and I just have to accept it ain't goin' in.

Nevertheless I've learnt an awful lot from everyone who has helped me and I am very grateful for that.

Hi Timothy. I'd forgotten all about this. I'm a tad confused as I thought we were talking about a Chinook. ??? That's besides the point & I still think whatever aircraft are on that CD will have an auto-install program to do all this for you. If you extracted the file from the CD & found a Readme along with it I assume it has the author's name in it. In this case I wouldn't mind betting that this Mosquito or whatever is posted right here at Simviation or one of the other big freeware sites. All we need is the name of the aircraft & the author's name.

Hello Hagar,

Yes I did get the download from this site. It is a MOMKIV DH Mosquito B IV DK333/4S-F and the author a Martin Bowman. I got it from the vintage section.

Sorry about the confusion with the Chinook. That was another one that I couldn't get going and sought help with !!

I have downlloaded the Supermarine Spitfire from the PcPilot disc  of a couple of months ago  and that was an AutoInstall and has worked fine, and also the Simshed  Hercules. This is also OK.  AutoInstall seems to work.
Whilst these items haven't worked, I'll tell you what- I've learnt a heck of a lot these last few weeks through this sites good offices. !!!

This rings a bell & I'm sure I did a walkthough on installing it in this forum only recently. Unfortunately FS9 is not installed to this machine & the files will be on my old one. If I can find it I'll post a link to the thread, unless I did it for you & you've already seen it.

I still don't understand why you're downloading these files from the CD. That's no different to downloading the files from here & installing them yourself. I've not tried one for some time but the whole point of these cover disks is that the files install automatically without going to all that bother. The CD should autorun when you insert it into the drive & you install the files you want from the onscreen install program. This is the reason some people prefer the disks to downloading the files from here & doing it manually. Either that or they have no Internet access & can't get the files any other way.

Right. It was you I did it for. Did you read my latest reply? http://www.simviation.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=COF;action=display;num=1131222641;start=15

I missed something which should have been obvious & led you on a wild goose chase. Sorry about that but if it's installed as per my instructions you can fix it by pasting a copy of the default DH 88 Comet sound folder into the Mosquito.

Success  !!
This afternoon I went into my computer and deleted everything that had gone before in relation to installing the Mosquito in FS9.  I then read everything I had been told from this site.  Everything !  I then went back to the zip file (I

Hooray.........! Perseverance pays off in the end. Well done. ;)

I suspect the cfg. file, because the gaps and word capitals are different from the download but am I going to argue ? No !

This should make no difference as CFG files aren't case-sensitive. Nether would changing the menu entry from DeHavilland to De Havilland or whatever. The problem was with the Sound.cfg file & re-aliasing it to the default Comet (or pasting a copy of the Comet sound folder into the Mosquito) would fix it. If I'd noticed this when I first tried the Mosquito we would have sorted this out a long time ago. ;)

It's important that you know exactly why it didn't show up & what you did to fix it so you can do the same if this problem arises again. There's no magic involved in this at all, it's simply knowing what to look for & where to look for it. ;)
