Heya Guitarperson05,

I don't think that you grasp the magnitude of the situation.  The FS 2004 default Sound folder alone (after install) is an estimated 450 to 500 Megs of data.  Even zipped that would still be around 250 to 300 Megs of data.  My Sound folder currently stands at 565 Megs of data.  I'm as nice as the next guy but I don't have the time nor the inclination to compress my entire FS 2004 Sound folder and E-Mail it to you.  I don't know what kind of internet connection you have or if your ISP will accept E-Mail attachments this big.

The FS 2004 Sounds are on Install Disk #2 in a file called MSGAME6.CAB.  All of these *.wav files (about 150 of them) are present in the CAB file, however, you have to Extract them somewhere.  The FS 2004 default installation sets up three subfolders (lessons, precip, thunder) within the FS 2004 Sound folder.  You have to Extract each *.wav file (one at a time, you can't shotgun them) into the Sound folder and the three subfolders.  Which *.wav file goes in which folder?  How much time is this going to take to research which *.wav file goes in which folder and to Extract all of these files one at a time?

Ramos has very wisely recommended that you uninstall and reinstall FS 2004.  From the looks of your main FS 2004 folder you have a lot of junk in there that you don't need.

I completely agree with Ramos and also recommend that you delete everything completely out of your system and install FS 2004 over again from scratch.

It may also be a good thing for you to develop some type of data archive system or protocol for your FS 2004 to insure that this kind of thing doesn't happen to you again sometime in the future.
Happy Flying -- And may your main wheels always touch down first!

Guitarperson, to try to help:-

1. Uninstalling/re-installing is no big deal. Just use Disc 1 to uninstall, all the disks to re-install. I see though that you have the FS9 update in there, make sure to uninstall that first - if you click on it there's an uninstall program. And the NoCD program if you have that. You can put them back in later.

2. The good news is, the FS9 un-install only deletes the original FS9 files; re-installing won't delete your downloads. Once you've re-installed you will find that they're all still there.

3. That is also the bad news  :) - all that junk will still be in place. That's why you would be wise to take Greycat's advice, go into Windows Explorer after you have un-installed, and delete absolutely every folder/file you can find that appears under the FS9 directory.

4. A little good news here, though - you don't have to delete your actual download files or the unzipped versions; So you can 'rebuild' once you've got the game working properly again.

5. As general advice, if I were you I'd get a bit choosier about downloads, especially 'gimmicks' as opposed to aeroplanes. Anything you fancy, 'sleep on it' and make sure you really want it, or ask around (someone on here will certainly have tried it). And above all, read the README files on installation and follow them carefully. And if there's anything that you don't understand  - which happens to me a lot - DON'T take chances :).

Get the sound folder off one of the CD's. Sound files are large and one that important is too big to really send by email.

Alternatively do a dual install. Rename the original FS2004 folder and simply install the sim again. They will work as two independent programs and you will get the best of both worlds.

You really ought to do a complete, clean install. From the looks of your main folder.. it's a fair bet your other folders are a mess too. You've already spent enough time/energy to have reinstalled twice by now.. and even if you do solve this problem.. I'd say you got a few more lurking.. Bite the bullet.. it's clean slate time.. we've all been there  ;)
