Space isn't a problem.  I have 240 gigs on my PC.  It's just sticker shock...

Dave, why does it look like crap as an AVI, but when I burn it to DVD, it looks like in-game?

Probably because when you burn it to disc, you are rendering it in full.
When you compress to AVI, you are really losing allot of detail.

Have you tried Movie Maker yet?

I tried all the movie maker settings.
You will see, the more make the file smaller, the less detail in the video.
You just need to come to a happy medium  ;D

I was hoping for around 100 Mb total...

You should see how this looks on my 36" TV.  I'm pretty happy with it.  :)

It's done and looks pretty clean at about 40 Mb.

I don't agree with that.

I have the full version of Fraps and hardly ever record more than 10 seconds at a time. When I edit a movie, I only use small fragments! Who wants to see 30 seconds of an aircraft rolling down a runway or 25 seconds of a plane flying in the air.  ::)

The trick is to take multiple short clips from various angles and edit them together in a real creative way.

That is what makes a good video!  ;)
