Oh boy, I really try to not mess with any CFG files. You know Murphys law right?

Well I did it, so all of you be proud.

I just hope that the FS starts up now  :o

But the Hagar said cool, so I'll take his and everyone elses word for it.

Thanks, Marlin

Has anyone come up with some thoughts as to why this should/may work just by changing that particular line in the FS9 .cfg File...?
That may go some way towards explaining why it may work... ;)...!

Cheers all... ;D...!

Paul.

I mainly use FS 2002, so I don't know if it works in that case... ::)..., and I have no probs with frame rates in FS 2002 anyway...Tee-Hee... ;D..!

Whatever it is or does, I like it.
i am running fs2002 and I changed setting as sunlord suggested and frame rate, set at 30 max now jumps even above the setting while flying jan visser's dc-3 over dense scenery.
also have Xp but have no added video card installed (can you?) so this result is w/ integrated Dell video and 700+ megs ram and 2.1  CELERON processor.
Thanks, sunlord

Its all Greek to me, but my guess the line may be tied to a file in the FS9 main folder, 'display.cfg'.

The file appears to contain strings tied to specific G/A's and OS.

In any case I saw little/no improvement, and like others I get 800x600 on first instance, and the original line rewritten in FS9.cfg.

Cheers,
Dave
At that time [1909] the chief engineer was almost always the chief test pilot as well. That had the fortunate result of eliminating poor engineering early in aviation.

If you don't test in the exact same location under the exact same conditions then you can't really tell if anything's been improved or not.

..I have been checking this out all day and cannot fault it..nor can I figure out what is going on here... ::)

Here's a couple of clips from my Special Meigs Field scenery taken as Matt suggested with exactly the same settings in each shot...the difference in FR and smoothness is amazing. I have done this test a dozen times today at different places with the same result....commoner. ;)

Hi comm...!
I've counted the clouds in your second pic...
There is one less, and that may account for the  increase in your frame rates... ;)...!

...perhaps... ::)...!

LOL...!

Cheers ... ;D...!

When this thread started, I applied it, and there seemed to be an improvement...but then when I saw it had been overwritten, I wrote it off.

But now people are exploring this further, and there seems to be something here that we can't figure out.  Does anyone know why the file is being overwritten and how to stop it?
Great edit, Bob.

Maybe that's what's happening, I dunno.  To be honest I didn't check the WHOLE thing to find out.  The changes were reversed, that's my point.  lol

...If you ask me, I reckon this thread has been started, (tongue in cheek), to drive us all mad, in the vain assumption that we can get sumfin' from nuffin..!
...and in the meantime, get us to trash our flight sim .cfg files and cause us to re-install our Flight Sim program all over again....
Buggar...!
...am I right, or am I right... ;)...?
LOL...!

Cheers all...!

Paul.

I'm avoiding all this dross by using my FS 2002...Tee-Hee... ;D...!
