Re: Where is this setting?

Hey guys, I think we're straying a bit off the main issue. The fs2004 manual states there are 5 water effects on the water effects slider, one of which is 3d waves. I think the manual is innacurate, as I have never seen any setting on any slider offering 3d waves etc. The issue is not whether we're concerned with whether aircraft or water is effected, nor if certain video cards support specific water effects. Simply put, there are not, contrary to the published manual, 5 settings on the water reflections slider. For that matter, there isn't even a water reflection slider at all in the sim. Looks clearly like a microsoft error. Too bad, 3d waves would look cool...... what do you think?

I still think those descriptions refer to a combination of the 2 sliders I mentioned. Each slider has 3 settings with one being OFF. This leaves you various combinations of 2 settings on each. The full effects are when both sliders are to the right or the settings are maxed out, whatever you like to call it. Even though my video card doesn't support the full reflective effects I definitely get 3D wave effects in both FS2002 & FS9. I've always taken this to mean where the waves break on the shoreline.

If your system & video card are capable I suggest you max all the settings out. Then you will have the highest possible combination of all the visual effects. Most people don't have a system powerful enough to do this without seriously affecting frame rates so you have to compromise.
